ok so i got some solid engine mounts threw them in went to go start the car and noticed the shifter was way to far over to the drivers side wtf?
they tweaked the engine and its not sitting right ?????:bash:
did you put them in correctly? unless it was intended for the shifter to be closer to the drivers side?

well their is only one way to put them in
and on the shifter being closer thats a no no because then the driveshaft would not be correct

Those suck, they dont have the proper offset. For $25 more you couldve had the best set of mounts in the world, JGS mounts.
Something is binding, are both tranny mount bolts straight? What kind of tranny mount do you have? You should grab a circuit sports poly one, and make sure your not binding anything, or the engine isnt cocked with the POS mounts you bought

i will tell you this if you dd the car don't do itWai not? I do it and it's shakes a little bit.
I mean I notice my coilovers more than I do with my Aluminum motor mounts. Mind you this is on an SR.. on a KA it's a little bit different (BorexStroke is a bit more uneven on the KA because of the longer stroke)
Anyways.. my mounts are exactly the same on each side. Maybe since you have a rubber mount it kinda squishes to one side and you tightened it while it was squished on one side and the other side wasn't squished, but was still tightened resulting in a weird shifter?
That or you have a crappy/ripped transmission bushing (but that shouldn't matter since my tranny bushing is ripped. So.. is the tranny bushing even in? Seems like the mounts should be able to make your shifter correct.

JGS mounts FTW!!!!
They could have had an error in the moulds or the bolt placement. Or you have the drivers and passangers mixed up.

could they be like the nismo ones? you know that left goes on the right side and vice versa when installed on SR?

i have the same ones, to solve your problem just put a jack under your tranny where it meets with the engine and loosen up ur mounts and then raise everything just enough to trial-and-error the problem til its centered.
-for those who still wonder about solid mounts, i have my stock ones back for DD and put them back in for drift/drag events...if you have body panels, fenders, bumpers or anything that isnt tight and secure. YOU WILL NOTICE IT MORE lol. Especially if you have a cheap short shifter where it rattles cuz you will feel it go crazy like a rich pornstars vibrator

Actually hocky puck mounts arent that bad, i prefer those over my soild mounts and stocks. Only problem with them is that its best if you can find a washer/plate thats just as big as the hocky puck to keep things from "sinking" into the puck. Using one thats smaller then the puck didnt help much.

Solid Al sounds like a quality product..
I forgot to mention, if you have solid mounts, it may sound like you have knock.. but it's just stuff rattling

my friends s14 came with hocky pucks and it felt super
so with a car that held up with zipties hocky pucks would be cool for dd

I'll try the JGS mounts. I already have no PS and a welded diff on a DD so I doubt some vibration will bother me.

My aluminum motor mounts aren't offset and my motor is fine..

I'm about to get the transmission mount from that kit from a local guy just to complete my solidness, but yeah. It should be quality. It's just a chunk of metal for the motor mounts and a bent sheet of metal for the transmission mount. Although I would like their kit to have bigger motor mounts. Mine are twice the diameter of those motor mounts and leave me with no doubt of holding my engine. Although I'm pretty sure their kit works perfectly anyways.

I have seen cars with solid mounts trip the knock sensor more often due to the added NVH. Other than that they're great for immediate throttle response.

Noticable throttle response, and it does vibrate, but not horribly. Just, your rear view mirror will vibrate and the steering wheel vibrates. Other than that, i like them.

Cold weather is a bitch, get the JGS rubber.
Hocky pucks kept me from going into park on an auto, I had to jiggle the shifter, switched to JGS poly, mounts are perfect, just make sure to use lock tite perm, and retorque after 50 miles because the metal that binds them will bend, and cause the 2 m12 bolts to wiggle out.
Plus the pucks were a bitch to get the trans to line up to the poly trans mount.
Vulcanized rubber could also break apart on the drivers side unless shielded

Well, your exhaust side depending on who's reading this.

maybe the cross member is bent causing the motor to be offset?

I got my motor mounts filled with polyurethane, yes throttle response is right away, and when you rev the engine the whole car moves, not the engine haha.

You may have mix your mounts left to right and right to left. Try switching them.
Also JGS motor mounts + SPL tranny mounts were the absolutely best combination I used.

sorry to bump an old thread, but i want to buy some jgs mounts, but i dont want anything harsh, are the rubber ones at least better then oem? or should i just get oem ones. all the people on here are saying how jgs are the best, but they dont specify which ones

I have the poly JGS mounts there is some vibration esp in the steering wheel but I love them. The throttle response is sick.
