So i sold my 87 BMW 325. heres the post: http://zilvia.net/f/cars-sale/234493-1987-bmw-325-e30.html#post2605462
it ran good, had a bunch of stuff maintenance done like timing belt, fuel pressure reg, fuel pumps, filters and more.
well i sold it after the guy low balled me.
him: i can give you 1300
me: i have more then 1800 in it and im looking for 1600
him: uhh....
me: well the lowest i could go is 1500
him:.... 1450?
me: well it has everything fixed on this car, all it needs is tires.
him: ok i can do 1500
well i signed off the car to him, and he drove it away.
then i got a phone call like 2 hours after, about him telling me that the car runs all shitty and the injectors must be messed up and fuel pump is shot.
so i just told him i couldn't really do anything and he test drove it for like 30 min. and he should of known.
and i feel kind of bad. but i should of got alot more for my car so oh well.

what the hell does he want you to do? the car is 22 years old, and its his now. :D
It's a $1500 car, what did he expect?
The only time I've called someone after I bought a used car was 4 mins into driving my S13 home with supposedly a "new clutch" and the thing started slipping BAD and wouldn't get me up hills. The clutch disk exploded about 2 weeks later, so it was hard to tell if it had ever been replaced, but I don't think it had. I just called to kind of bitch at the guy since he talked about how he put in some high quality clutch but "couldn't remember the brand." A used car is a used car, but no reason to lie about the condition or work done to it. So as long as you didn't mislead the guy then no problem.

and being familiar with ETA's, its probably something silly and extremely cheap to fix.

reminds me of this thread, some guy on rx7 club posts up "should i buy this car?"...
and he buys it eventually, starts to drive it home and the car takes a shit on him.. so he returned it .
Should i buy this car.? - RX7Club.com (http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=815935)
People buy cheap rx7s and expect them to run good lmao
My uncle sold a good condition 80 rabbit convertible to some lady, he thought he was being nice so he let her do payments.. and this lady decides to drive it to vegas, but the car takes a crap on her, and she goes and bitches to my uncle to fix the repairs etc.. he just decides to let her have the car/whatever she owed him.
I hate people like that who try to low ball or back their way out of something... Know what you are getting into before you buy. These are aging cars, expect shit to start going out randomly.

It's a used car.
Not your problem any more.
I got a car from a zilvian and it took a huge crap on me.
Can't complain. Just happens.

this is why used car dealers specify cars sold "as is". they are not liable for the condition of the car after its sold. might be something to look into for those of you planning to sell a car. it's just not safe to assume the law already protects the seller (if you dont know for sure).
I'd imagine there might possibly some legal liabilities without, in the worst case scenario (i.e. - dude that buys your car gets into crash, blames car, then sues you for 10 million dollars). best to cover your ass.

So what's the point of this thread? Tell him to suck your dick.
I asked the previous owner of my car about an issue and what was up with it just because I wanted to know why it was like that but, I knew full well what I was getting into.

i spent several months trying to get rid of a 1GB dsm a couple years ago. once the kid signed all the paperwork, and our documents i had written up that said, "SOLD AS IS." i washed my hands of that white pile of crap. he called me a few weeks later, but i didnt even answer the phone. that reminded me to delete his number from my phone. not my problem anymore. nor do i care to even get involved. i wish the kid the best of luck, but i want nothing to do with it. no offense.
but buying used, old cars, shit happens. i bought my E30, and it seemed like a shifter bushing was broken. the knob would move around alot, even when in gear. turns out it was 2 torn trans mounts. resulted in a bent clutch fork. oh wells. $850 later, i have a fresh trans, new mounts, guibo, center bearing and new throw out bearing. got it all and installed for $850 by some local dude. anyhow, the trans feels GREAT now. its on to the brakes now. new pads/rotors, stainless lines and fluid should make them tip top again. all this is ofcourse, unnecessary. but i thought i would share some experiences. BTW, my E30 is also an '87. paid $1700 for it in decent running condition. it just needs lots of refreshment. as expected. if i wasnt ready to dump money into it, i should have no business purchasing a car such as that. that is all.

i just bought a 91 corolla GTS AE92 for 500 bucks with coilovers, momo wheel, tenzo bucket seat HKS intake and a bunch of other stuff.
car was 6 hours away in virginia and i was fully expecting it to take a shit on me on the way back. if it had i wouldnt have complained, i bought it cheap for a reason. people who buy cheap cars then complain because they need normal maintenance items make me sick..
cruise control, ac, radio, everything works flawlessly, i would say its more dependable than my 240 lol

well i just picked up a 96 240, SE, VLSD. for $900. needs body work, quarter panel is smashed up pretty good.
tell him to fuck off. its used, the guy drove it for 30min he should have a good idea on its condition, plus he tried to low ball you.

Do you really think that happened? Call me paranoid but the guy seems like such a cheap ass cheeky f**k that he could be saying somethings happened to the car and just tries his luck to get some money back off of you for the "repairs", when in fact the car is fine.
He drove it for 30 minutes and its fine, then he calls back two hours later and has a good idea that its the fuel pump and/or injectors?? I would call his bluff on this one.
Maybe Im looking at this too hard...
