Ok so right before I headed home from the Tuesday night pipeline meet, I stopped to get some gas. I rolled up my window (pushed the button) and once it reached the top, it litterally just fell back down. And now it doesn't budge. When I push the button all I hear is knarly sounds like "rannrrrrannnnrrannnrkkkkkckccllklclckkkk" yeah kinda like that haha.
My diagnosis is a new window motor. Is this correct? I pulled off the door panel already and I can't really notice anything unsual, but I can really see much because of the door's construction.

sounds like it may have just fell off the runner somehow.
take the door panel off, then look and see if the motor moves things around.
look for the parts that arent hooked up.

^The motor is moving, the gears are spinning, everthing seems to engage and click when they are supposed to, but it has a nasty grinding kinda sound. How would I go about putting it back on the runner? The door panel is off and there isn't much access to the window, unless there is a way to take off whats behind the door panel.

As in buy a door from the junk yard, switch it out with mine, and return mine to the junkard? So pretty much exchanging it?? lol how awsome. Smart...very smart. Although it's getting really hard to find a decent condition white door in junkyards nowdays.
I wanna try to fix it first myself, I'd feel better doing that. We'll see though I guess. Thanks for your input guys

*Goes to garage to further inspect* Be back in a bit I'll edit this post when I look closer at it if I find any thing.
*EDIT* Well, I pulled the window up myself and the motor still makes that wierd noise, I think somthing snapped. I found a buncha nuts and screws im going to take out tommorow that I believe will uncover the internals of the door.

When your working on your door motor and runners.
And you think, "this is hard to get to, there has to be an easier way"
your wrong, its a pain in the ass, lol.
You could always just get a JY motor?
I did that.
like stated above, check the wire, make sure its bolted into the holders, look and make sure its in the runners, make sure the motor teeth are lined up properly on the gear.
My window motor had a wobbly gear, so it would disengage from the window gear, then re-engage. Thats why I replaced it.

Yup sounds like the cable came off more or less. Havnt pulled the panel off my doors really too look but i have crank windows anyways tho. But i replaced power window regulators in cars all the time at the shop i work at and usually they make the same sound kinda like gnarling wire n crap inside the door when the motor is running.
here is an image of what the motor and regulator assy. looks like out of the door

Wow, fail thread again.
If the motor is working, it's not the motor. Swapping an entire door for window parts is completely fucking retarded. Why not just buy a whole new chassis if you're going that route?
Research on here would yield 99% of S13 window problems comes from the cable drive breaking on the regulator. There's plastic reels that the cable rides on, either a reel has broken, the cable has frayed/broken, or something has come loose on the regulator. You need a regulator, not a motor. Remove the four M6 nuts that secure the glass, life it out, then remove the four M8 nuts and lift the regulator out. It's literally 60 seconds worth of effort.
