View Full Version : Will 300zx engine fit in a 240sx??

I was wondering if you could fit a 300zx turbo engine, or non turbo into a 240sx without any major fabriction or modifications, will the stock trans work, and is the engine compartment big enough??? thanks

It'll fit, but not without major modification. The work alone may well be more than you pay for the motor.

Well, I know that you could put a 300zx trans in a 240. But if its possible to put a 300zx trans in a 240, I would think it would be possible to put a 300zx engine in a 240. But dont take my word on it.

How do you 'know' that?

No 300ZX transmission (Z31 or Z32) is a direct fit... neither bolts to the KA, and the Z32 transmissions are physically larger.

Of course it doesnt just fit in, you do need neccessary modifications in order to install the transmission, but like i said, dont take my word on it

iirc, 240sx trannys are direct to the shifter, z (liek a z32) are linkage.
(sorry i cant think of the proper terms to describe this)


z tranny will NOT bolt to 240sx. bad info!

yes he is. but the z32 and z31 have been discussed on FA before
mattback is always all over those posts. that guy is pretty damn knowledgable
