Ok so I'm simply a couple days away from ordering an SR20DET, but now it seems as though it might not be the perfect idea apparently. SO I have an 89 with a SOHC. Now if I'd like to do a KA24DE or whatever instead of the SR where would I find a good source for these motors and what can I expect for the cost of purchasing one to transplant into my 89. Thanks in advance for the info everybody!

Hmm, now, would you rather have a naturally aspirated, 155hp, 160 torque KA24DE, or would you go for a turboed SR20DET. Do you plan to turbo the KA that you're getting? You now have a SOHC KA motor, all you'll be getting is 15 more horses and DOHC.
Maybe I misunderstood; maybe you want to buy and turbo the DOHC motor?
Go with the SR if you have a SOHC.

that's what i thought he meant.. KA24DE + T <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> the reason he'd want a DOHC is because there are more turbo kits for that motor. of course, i'm assuming this...
i only know of one SOHC kit, that just came out, and i don't know of anyone who has it, or the quality. i myself...and going with a SOHC turbo motor to make people say "why didn't you turbo a DOHC" i'll reply with....wanna race?

I second Mark's opinion. Talk to Louis.

And as soon as I get finished with the SOHC in my pickup, I'm gonna blow the doors off anyone who thinks the truck is a piece of shit. I know I'm going to get it above 200 horsepower, and that should be substantial for those dorks with a weedwacker resonator exhaust that think they're cool. God I love sleepers.

If I get it fast enough, maybe I'll even throw a couple sandbags in the back and toast 'em! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
hey i'm just like Guido there..i'm gettin me a KA24DE transplant...don't know when yet...but b4 march of 02....the reason i want the KA24DE over the SR20DET..i can tell you all in one word why i am still crying over me not being able to get the SR...: SMOG....haha..too bad i live in SMOG VILLE california....i've read over and over of how it wont' pass cali's strict a$$ smog laws....but is this jsut a myth....is there things you can do to make it pass if you do swap it???..casue if you can...imma be rethinkin my plans....

Yeah I agree with Mark & Grl... talk to me .. hehe <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Actually we can do either, we just did a DOHC swap into my car, went awesome, didn't have any problems at all, took about a day and a half and cranked up first time... man it's nice to have them start up the first crank after all that work.. hah.
We can track down a DOHC motor and implant it for ya, or we can get you an SR and do that too, just depends on what you are looking for, we carry both the NSport and hopefully soon the FMax kit for the S13.
Drop me an email at
[email protected] and we can discuss details and options if you want.
