View Full Version : How much spacing for +40 offset

I found a killer deal that I am having a hard time passing up. A set of 17in Racing Harts C3 for $600. The issue is that they are Honda offset.
Now if I go with them I would use spacers. From searching: the H&R hubcentric w/ NISMO studs. The problem is that the H&Rs come in sizes ranging from 6mm-25mm. How much is too much and what would be a good amount?
From what I have read, good offsets for 17s on the s13 are anywhere from 35-20mm. So should I just get a spacer that will put me in that range?
Then the next problem, camber. How much will I have to run to get them to tuck? I would rather have the tire last a little longer then 6k mi so too much is out of the question.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

first thing
DONT pay attention to the sie of the wheel (diameter)
we need the WIDTH
post that and we'll go from there
so far we know

17X7 I'm sure. :D
I'd reccomend the bolt on wheel adapters from project silvia. 25mm in front and 30 mm in back. Or something in that range.
If you do a little research you can find companies in the states that specialize in making wheel adapters in any size and spacing. You can get one's custom made for you for a little cheaper than buying H&R or the one's from project silvia.

17x7.
The Racing Hearts are the closest thing to the Manarays that I can actually afford

great. now answer these qs:
7" with with a +10 or higher will be flush (closer to +10) or under (no rubbing) the fender.
below +10 will stick out and require negative camber.
NOW remember, TIRE choice and size affect this. but if you put the wheel on without a tire, it will be like the above.
tire choice
what tire you want to use?
camber
how much camber do you want to use?
is your camber adjustable (either w/ pillowball mounts or upper arms or eccentric bolts)
then we'll have an idea what size spacer you will want to get to keep it from looking like ass and sunken in as it will look if you put them on right now.

So 25mm and 30mm offset (offset + spacers) or 25mm and 30mm spacers.
Sorry for all the n00b q?s
edit: I will be using a 205/40-17 el cheapo from Hankook ($77 per tire) until I can get better. I don't plan on racing on these.
They will be just for show. I will race on the stockers

yeah you'll be fine w/ those spacers.
good clearance (for coilovers too) and you wont run into any problems.
foxcolt: those are big spacers, are they bolt on type or longer stud type?

Bolt on type.
A while ago when I was pondering buying fwd offset wheels the guys at project silvia told me that those would be the best size spacers to put on 17X7.5 +40 or so to have em flush with the fender.
chit though, I'm stilll a noob to when it comes to proper wheel choice. I haven't even bought tires yet for the wheels I just got:D

ah good
i would (personally) be uncomfortable using longer studs of such lenght
bolt on types rock
i use a 30mm set on the fronts. love em. work great. i use them on my stock studs. any wheel clears my z brakes now hahaha
