my car is running rich and it has a wierd missfire type thing going on.. it goes away when its going up in rpms but if i hold it at a certain thing(ex:3000rpms), or during idle.. it misses.
does anybody know what it is?
my friend says its my tps.. it has new sparkplugs and o2 sensor..

its hard to say not knowing exactley how its acting but if its running rich and you have cat then you go up in rpms and it starts to miss? but then you floor it and it wont go above a certain rpm your cat is pluged up. we had that issue not to long ago. also if its runnig rich and the car knows that then its taking readings from your o2 sensor so the tps will try to compensate a for that so you sound like your on the right track. the tps,o2. but thats just my 2 cents g/l

Check your TPS via FSM, It doesn't really sound like a tps to me though, when my tps went, my car had REALLY bad throttle response.

Funny thing, my car is kinda doing the same. 90 SOHC.
When mine is cold, it backfires like its going outta style. After warming up, it'll backfire on decel occasionally. Tried a new TPS, no dice, same thing.
We needz helps.

i put some brake cleaner in my iacv tube and it helped with it alot, i ordered a tps , cap, rotor so hopefully that will fix everything.. it has a new o2 sensor and spark plugs.. and it has no cat. ill give updates as soon as i learn something

I sprayed brake cleaner into my intake via the vac tube before the intake boot, and that helped my idle and throttle response.
I can't find any other things that could cause the TPS code the be thrown from the ECU. Its mind-boggling. I hate it SO MUCH.
More searching. :wiggle:

I'm having the same problem but the engine only acts up once its warm. I already took apart the IACV to clean up the internals but it still does it.
I'm guessing it might be the coolant temp sensor, so I'll get a new one tomorrow.
