im doing the 2jz swap into my s13 and id rather make the mounts and xmember instead of paying 1500 for the kit please dont ask me if im mech. incliend im a body man and i've done numorus swaps in cars but never a transplant so any advice will be appreciated. im looking to know exactly what i will need im doing the 5 speed R154 tranny because of the rediculouse price of the 6 speed. so if anyone has done this swap and made there own stuff let me know what i will need. and when i get the engine its gonna come with the auto tranny because its cheaper that way for some reason, the engine comes with

ENGINE BLOCK TOP AND BOTTOM
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
FLYWHEEL
INTAKE MANIFOLD
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
TWIN TURBOS
FUEL RAIL
THROTTLE BODY
SPARKPLUGS
ALTERNATOR
STARTER
AC COMPRESSOR
POWER STEERING
INJECCTORS
SPARKPLUGS
OIL PAN
VALVE COVER
MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR
IGNITER
UN-CUT WIRE HARNESSES
ECU
ACCESSORIES (STOCK MOUNTS & SENSORS)

so i would like to know exactly what im gonna need to drop the engine in and get it running and as far as the wiring goes if any one knows about it let me no i dont know a whole lot about the wiring harness on this car or if the auto trans it comes with is going to affect it or the ecu so any help i can get, lists of parts im going to need, and any other info thanx!

auto or manual dont matter for the swap. the ecu will work either way the only thing you cant do is use a manual ecu for an auto tranny. now for the wiring i would take both harnes's and send them to tech 2 the 2jz is a very sensor and wiring tempramental set up, if one thing isnt right, on the wiring or a bad sensor / plug the computer aint going to let you drive faster than a blind grandma. so do it right ! now for the cross member if its not done right then you might have to pound the fire wall, or your shifter will be in your dash where your beloved cd player belong's, and can even screw up the cars handleing, so i would recomend not half assing anything there either. another imortant thing is to not go cheap on a clutch get a nice one that has a good rep on supra forums such as ACT, the last thing you need is some cheap clutch pushing the crank through the block.... ( do some reasearch on supra forums and you will learn why this happens and how to prevent it )........ well i guess the moral of this story is do it right or dont do it at all. because if you dont do it right the first time and somthing gets messed up its going to turn from a 12 k swap to a way more expensive sawp........ if you want more info let me know...

well as for parts on the engine you will need to replace the jdm water pump with the usdm one also i would recomend changing all belts. for the wiring harness it depends on the condition of your 240 harness and the condition of the 2jz's harness and i beleive its a 1 to 2 week turn around call tech 2 and ask them ...... tell them ryan referd you they will take care of you and answer anything you need .... oh and you will need an aftermarket radiator and the uper neck will need to be moved to the left about 4 inches for the supra water hoses. you will also need to make some custom fuel lines just for the engine bay , you will need custom heater lines, (if you dont want to use your heater do NOT cap off the heater port at the rear of the head this will create a hot spot in your head and damage your engine. as for the crossmember and mounts the mounts do not need to be moded ( they might need to be replaced with new 2jz mounts ) just the X member needs fab work.

i hope you got alot of cash and another car to drive in the mean time....

it's not like throwing a SR/CA into a 240.

Good luck.

check out 2JZswap.com for more info and tech.

Crono - Last time i talked to Sean at Tech2 (Last friday) he said it's about a 3 week wait now on the Harness.

But OP, i'm not trying to sound like an ass, but it sounds like your in over your head.
you can plan on spending _______ and end up spedning 2 or 3 times more then that.
For example i was planning on spending 450-550 on my wiring to get done....well i ended up payin $850ish due to bad wires. I know at last tally my 2JZ build is just passing 11K.

THERE IS ALOT of blind/hidden costs to do a 2JZ swap. From heater hoses. to stock 2JZ parts, to making sure the motor is in good shape, to the downpipe, intercooler, radiator setup, fan setup, fuel setup... it's ALOT of time money and work.

mine is finished accept for a few bugs I'm working on, but my grand total is up to about 14k ! Like flicktitty said there is a lot of hidden fees and stuff. Don't take short cuts and do everything right.

alot, but its more like what didnt it come with and what needed to be done. go on 2jzswap.com and read around there. there is a couple of posts that tell you exactly what is needed and gives prices for everything. if you want it to look factory and run good then its not easy its not cheap and its very time consuming! but when all is finished its alota fun, and well worth it imo just make sure your not in over your head here or all its going to do is cost you alot of money and problems and time......
