trans mount?

ive got a 93 s13 hatch and the trans seems a little wobbly to me. when i start on snow or ice and i dont get the traction i need, but then hit the payment it wiggles.. alot. it does it if i start from a stop hard too. think its the trans mount? im kinda new to cars and mechanics so its just a guess. it is an auto to manual conversion it that makes any difference.

replace your tranny mount.

Doubt that it is your problem...but it's a good place to start. There are several options as far as stock replacements, urethane units, NISMO stock looking ones, and i think some people still make aluminum ones for race applications. Might as well do the motor mounts too.

If your tranny mount is that bad check all other driveline bushings too, like the differential.

check to make sure the center bushing, i think thats what its called on the drive shaft is still good that would cause shaking when in gear

ok, if it is the mount i was just gunna get the nismo mounts for the trans and motor, its cheaper if i just get em all. but ill check the rest of it to. how easy/hard is it to put in the mounts? could i do it in my garage or am i gunna need a lift for it?

Lift is always nice for the tranny but not necessary. I swapped my NISMO mounts in when I had the motor and tranny out though. Motor mounts are strait forward, i used an engine hoist to pull up on my motor then just swapped em out, while the tranny was unbolted. You can just use a floor kack though and jack up the engine out of the bay side by side.

Its probably your subframe bushings, mine bushings are shot.

I have a Nismo Engine/Tranny mounts but when ever i chutch dump it still shakes, Shit load of wheel hop

thats the problem ive got for the most part. did the mounts really do anything? or are they gunna be a waste of my money... cuz i dont have much of it :P

99% of 240s have a worn transmission mount, it's not a very solid piece to being with and age/mileage wear them out quickly. If the car was originally an auto it's really trashed since the auto weighs more. Installation is simple, place a floor jack or bottle jack under the rear of the transmission to support and drop the crossmember and mount, swap the mount and reinstall. Literally shouldn't take more than ten minutes.

thats what i figured. thanksalot everyone, il let you know when i get em in. i gotta order em stil tho, might be a few weeks
