i'm in the process of getting my block rebuild so right now i'm looking to get the rod and main bearings for my sr20det but not sure if i should get the OEM bearings or get the ACL race bearings.
the crankshaft is still good so i'm running STD size.

I did acl bearing, i had to get my crankshaft turned due to a spun bearing, i dont like the fact that oem you have to get diffent bearings for each cap, acl you go get your crank shaft turned and then all you bearings are the same size and grade, no pink, black, blue, brown, green, yellow confusion crap... just my opinion :) also acl have not givin me a problem yet, but the motor is still on an engine stand :) lol...

and my motor is of the engine stand and in the car. the first start was perfect but i ahve a low oil press problem. when i drive the car slow it will be good but when i take it over 3500rpm and beat on it the oil press will be like at 16psi at idle. no idea why i hit up couple of forums and still nothing.

Calico Coatings Clevite bearings Search Results (http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl;jsessionid=0a010c491f433ab98844e76b42a4b48b88 34f0a6ca64.e3eSc3aPaxmLe34Pa38Ta38Na3b0?c=573180&sc=2&category=&search=KA24DE)
There Clevite bearing with a special anti-friction coating on them. Thats what we're using on the Nascar truck engine we're building. They're nice and apparently not badly priced.
$50.08 for rod bearings
$86.39 for main bearings
Both have the coatings on them.

Remember you can't only replace 1 rod, you gotta get a balanced set.

yea, i'm getting a full set of rod and main bearings.

so how come the OEM have to run a different grades on each one but the aftermarket is not?

Aftermarkets run a general tolerance the OEM ones usually run different ones so you can get tighter tolerances iirc. When I rebuilt my motor I just used aftermarket, havn't had a problem since. *knock on wood*

Check the numbers folks. Graded OEM bearings are all well within STD specs. At the very outer edge of clearance spec (beyond grade 6) you can equivalently go with aftermarket STD + .001". If your crank is still good, aftermarket STD will will be somewhere within clearance spec range, but like guy who knocks on wood... trust but verify with a decent micrometer and bore set. You don't want to put STD bearings in if the block+crank stampings and typical wear puts you just on the edge of acceptable clearance. Is halfway good? My FSM says absolute maximum clearance for the mains is 65 microns with an acceptable range of 35-53 microns. Rods are only a few microns different. 70, 34-59 respectively. After 300,000 miles my original VQ30DE rod journals are still within spec. STD+0.001" might be good following a light polish. Mains still look pristine, and mic in perfectly to the grade 1 stamps.
