I hate asking questions like this on forums, but
im having a hard time deciding if this shop is giving me a good deal or not.
They are offering to install a power fc in my car (s13 w/ sr20det) not de jetro. Plus tune on dyno.
they are asking 1100$ + i trade my safc neo and stock ecu.
what do ya think?
i had a friend of mine offer me 200$ for the safc already, so take that into consideration.

sorry to bump a new thread, but if i dont go with this deal than i might be about to miss a really good deal somewhere else.

Unless they are tuning it I do not see it being a good deal. Well actually even if they tune it the price seems like on the high side.

they are going to tune it.
i have a gt2871r, n62 mafs, 555cc injectors.... all the stuff. idk if that matters how long it takes to tune it.

how'd ya know?
they offered 1100+my safc neo for the power fc installed and tuned.
i know i can find them for around 800$, but idk how much tuning usually costs on a power fc.
nice to see ya over here. i am usually over on 240atl

sounds like a rip off to me...
Ed Senf at Balanced Performance, in the Sugar Hill area (awesome tuner, and a Apex'i Power Excel dealer at that, don't know who your using) tuned my car (PowerFC, S14SR, stock T28, 740s/Z32 maf) in a little over an hour at $150 an hour, I think we did 17 pulls. I paid ~$175ish. Thats on a load bearing dynojet with a full drivability tune, not just peak power.
so you can get a PowerFC for ~$800, and take the $200 selling the NEO to your friend and get your car tuned.

I'm not going to debate with you about how Dynojet is not a "eddy current" dyno so it can't ever give you a steady-state tune, but I will say that you got seriously hooked up on your tuning rate - there's only a couple PowerExcel dealers here in socal, and they would charge around $400 for a full tune like you got.
To the OP, it's not a horrible deal, but I would look around for PowerExcel dealers in ATL and shop around for PFC's. I've seen 'em for for as little as $680 new with Commanders. Then again, if tuning cost $400, you'd be right back up at the $1100 mark.

Not looking to argue either, I don't get into all the differences of all the different dyno's, I didn't really care as long as the car got a nice tune, I plan to stick with them and use a single dyno, and I eventually plan to get fc-datalogit to be able to fine tune it on the track/street, and be able to switch summer/winter maps, cold weathers been a bitch this year. I've heard the load bearing dynojets heat up quickly, but nothing ever more substantive than that. Ed was a awesome guy, very "teacherly" in explaining in what he was doing. He gets busy in race season though, does a lot of flying out, was contracted to do Rolex Cup cars and some SCCA teams while I was down there.
I asked them if it was load bearing and if they were capable of doing a full drivability tune before I chose them, I got a yes to both. My original choice up in NC closed down shop and wasn't yet doing it on the side, he used a dynodynamics.
$150/hour is there normal price, or was year and a half ago, my other choice (also power excel) was around $165/hour. I got hooked up on strap down/unstrap time, they didn't charge me, where as the douchebags before me with an ITR got charged, but they were acting like dicks.

I stand corrected :) Props to you.
