View Full Version : What is the gain? (hp)

Sorry, but I searched and I couldn't find the comparison.
What gain should I expect (what gain did you expect) if I added full intake and exhaust (CAI and Headers and Full exhaust) vs. standard turbo kit, running 7 Psi.
Did you get all that? Sorry if it doesn't make sense. Basically I want to know what the hp and tq gain is with each.
Thanks,
And hey, if your running full intake and exhaust, did you notice an improvement immediately?

10-15 ponies at max with i/h/e.
and if you say "Well Import Tuner showed 15 horse power games with intake alone" just slap yourself. ;)
as for ka-t with 7psi, you're changing the intake/exhaust in any event, and the manifold replaces the header I believe. Since you're cramming more air through the system, you'll see more gains.

Ok. I'd agree with a 15rwhp gain from I/H/E.
With the turbo kits that are out, you'll see 240rwhp (+105rwhp on most cars) at 6.5-7psi according to the manufacturers. Also, you'll pay $250 for the intake and cae, and $250 for headers and $550 for an exhaust. That's 1/3 the price of a turbo for 1/9th the power. Woot.

just slap yourself for TRYING to compare i/h/e to a turbo... thats ridiculous.
someone on FA made over 200rwhp with a non intercooled 4.5psi turbo set up. tuned to death N/A engines are TRYING to reach 170rwhp.

if you're talking about orion, his numbers are:
First pull: .4bar, 3rd gear = 215rwhp and 209rwtq
Second pull: .4bar, 4th gear = 224rwhp and 229rwtq
Third pull: .3 bar, 4th gear = 202rwhp and 209rwtq

yeah... I had to edit it and actually mention that so that my slap yourself comment wasnt the only thing I said. tnx for the actual numbers ace. Im in a stupid question hating mood today. its taking way too much effort to be nice today.. I may have to stay away from boards today

Where can I get a turbo kit?
I know there are some out there, but I want a reasonably priced one. I don't care if it's JDM.

You have much to learn grasshoppa. Sounds like time for a google search and some of your own research.
"How Turbos Work" would be a good search to start with

Ahh, be easy, he is canadian :p
Moose, read this link and get famalier with turbos:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm
If you want to read anymore and plan on turboing your car either swap or custom kit, check out the book "Maximum Boost by Corky bell".

What does that mean? I am Canadian!?! You are a piece of ****. I know about turbo and I know I don't want an HKS setup, or a Blitz Setup. You can't make that distinction you fag, I've done enough research on turbo and what I meant was I don't want a really expensive setup like Blitz or HKS.
Yes I'm Canadian and I'm proud to be Canadian. I certainly wouldn't want to be American right now. (O.k I take that back, its not your fault it's Bush's fault.)

I do however have one question that I couldn't get answered when I did my research.
What is bar? Is it the psi reading? I kee hearing .45 bar and I have no idea.
I like the idea of a smaller turbo, but if you go smaller than you can't expect to run much boost.
If I do a custom buildup, what parts should I start with first?

With a smaller turbo you CAN run high boost. I just won't flow as much air. Bar is another way of measuring boost. I can't remember what it is though....something around 20psi? I know someone here knows.
EDIT: Please stop asking what you want.....we don't know what you want. Give us something to work off of. Like your ultimate goal. Quick spool up with decent hp or ungodly hp that kicks right before your rev limiter. Tell us what you are gonna do with the car.

1 bar is 14psi. I am not trying to offend you but....you need to do more research on the KA and Turbos. There is a lot to learn out there. Most of the turbo gurus that are on Zilvia and FA will admit that there is still more for them to learn. Just be patient and keep learning.
I personally don't know enough to even criticize you so I will shut-up now:D

lol. noob. hks and blitz don't make kits for a ka. i say first part (or rather a tool) you need to buy is a torque wrench so you could hit yourself on the head :)
