well my engine finally went, whats a real world cost to get an sr in my car, want an s14 motor, ill leave it stock trim for a while if i have to i just want the motor in for now working on strict buget. should i buy the whole front clip? I will most likely have to do a tranny swap unless i find an a/t tranny with it. Oh yeah i need A/C and ive been told it wont work and it will work, which one is it? Thanks

eehhh.. trust me, you do not want an s14 motor in there if you want to just leave it stock which you probably won't end up doing in the long run.

And be a man. no A/C.

search. there has been a thread where somebody asked how much each person spent on a SR swap. from wat i remember it was ~5gz at least

ive done a good bit of research, but nothing give a straight foward estimate i was guessing around 5 grand min. But hopeing i could do it a little cheaper without the mods right away. And no it wont stay stock for long at all i just cant afford to put my car down for any amount of time right now. I mean i want the fmic and boost controler and all of that but its not needed right away.

and anybody know about the A/C, its a must, i have to carry the baby around from time to time in it.

Well it will vary depending on the many different ways to do the swap and what things you want to change or upgrade when you do it.

Bare minimum, you could have the car up and running by only buying the clip, which can go for as cheap as $1900 plus tax or shipping.

c'mon now, you still need belts, fluids, misc. stuff that you don't expect, I wouldn't even attempt it with less than 2500.
Bare minimum.

no estimates? c'mon now, this is straight of srswap.com, if this isn't a decent outline, I dunno what is.

What's wrong with variable valve timing and a bigger turbo? You must be talking about doing a bigger turbo and a new valvetrain including a lash killer kit? I have often wondered the same thing myself. What is the difference between Low port and high port design?

Thanks in advance

I am actually putting in a S14SR its becoming a more popular thing to do here in socal . There is a whole group of us who have decided to go this direction for a number of reasons. One is the fact that the S14SR has a broader flatter torque band . It comes on smoothly compared to the way the S13SR does . A S13SR runs more like a 2 stroke motorcycle engine. nothing then all of sudden intense.
I am going for 250 to the wheels with a few externals mods I will hit it with the smooth power band. On the S13SR It would be more of a mid range top end engine for the same results powerwise.

1. I drive my 9 month old daughter around w/ the SR @14 lbs. Just don't go mashing the pedal
2. It takes a good amount of cash to get the SR up and running well (Yoshi was right on point with the amounts)
3. I love the way the S13 SR rushes in the power. It allows for more predictable driving in the rain also (easy to stay out of boost)

Look in the FAQ section there is alot of good info there for the taking on SRs
