as of a few days my car has been starting weird like it would crank up slowly and sometimes not even crank at all. my car is stuck at a savemart and i have work tommorow morning=epic fail. i was wondering if i just need a new battery or a new starter perhaps? distributor maybe? well btw the car turns on perfectly fine radio headlights and all the good stuff but the engine isnt going so well.

Instead getting a battery
try a jump first.... What does it sound like... Does it try to crank or clicking at least?
get a jump, if you don't know how to hook it up properly, please google it
starter usually makes a clicking sound
what exactly do you hear when you try to turn the ignition?
Sounds like battery doesn't have enough cranking amps or bad contact at the terminals.

That is what I thought... but.... we'll see

Hey, would you look at that!
There's a whole SECTION dedicated to technical question.
How convenient!

we tried jumping it and the battery actually seems fine, i only get clicks when i try to turn it on, but we tried to push start it and it worked so now my car is sitting in the garage, but now i only get clicks still.

its the starter
or ignition switch
or starter relay circuit (many 240's had undersized wiring and suffered from this problem)

the ignition switch obviously works as power is being transferred from the key switch to the signal wire side of the starter solenoid. if the ignition switch was bad nothing would happen when the key was turned.
sounds like the solenoid on the starter is bad. volt meter will clear everything up super fast.
with the key in the on position have a friend turn the key forward while you use a test light on the starter signal wire (the small one) this will tell if you if you have ignition related problem immediately.
if power is present check to be sure your getting battery voltage at the battery post on the starter. then check if power is being switched over to the engagement side of the solenoid (the wire that goes feeds to the gear housing) when key is turned over.
if power does show up there then the gear drive is bad causing either
A no kickout of the drive
or
B not enough to turn the flywheel.
you should have your answer.
from the sound of it tho you have a battery issue. if you haven't had a single starter issue i wouldn't suggest replacing it. starters, like most things die in fazes. your starter requires 50 times more amps to kick over, compared to trivial 12v accessories such as headlights and radio's. just because those work doesn't mean your battery has a full charge. another thing to remember is voltage doesnt have a directly relationship to the current charge state of the battery. in other words just because it registers at 12v doesn't mean its charged.
or ignition switch
or starter relay circuit (many 240's had undersized wiring and suffered from this problem)
you can bypass both of those, if needed
my starter is fine, I ended up bypassing both the clutch interlock relay and the starter relay just so I didn't have to worry about em.. just took them out of the equation.

Yah battery amperage is too low.... easy fix

Beat the starter with a BFH or a wrench or a rock and see if it starts then. If you hit it hard enough it might just fix the problem completely.

took this long for someone to mention this? hit the solenoid and the starter motor.

bring it to your local STS,midas,or whatever is near you. They have a machine that conects to your terminals and they will tell you if its the, alterntor, starter, battery, or if your electrical system is pulling a draw.
