I have 1992 240SX coupe that is about to undergo a suspension treatment to be used as a competitive time attack car. I have a great fabricator who is going to be building the front suspension for the car. Right now he is working on designing the front and rear control arms, and we are thinking about giving them an extra 1-1.5" length to widen the track, and to keep the tires away from the frame rails and strut perches. Is this a good idea? Also will this be too much strain on the power steering system? And what is need to convert to manual steering? We saw the Tein S15 and they have 1" extended control arms on the S15, thats where the idea came in to widen the track, and get better tire clearance and strut clearance.
