got a fix it ticket about a month ago for my brake light...wel i fixed it and got it signed off.
about 2-3 weeks later im looking at the ticket and it says my court date is
1-12-08:mepoke:..
i get a letter in the mail saying i FTA (fail to appear)
see a cop down the street have him run my licence and he tells me my licence is suspended and i owe about $850+, thats with out all the taxes.
anyone have experince with this? Can i fight it? they said they sent a letter in the mail saying my court date was reschedualed. the date they gave me happend to be on my finals day at school anyways. Im only 17 (juvenile) and still attend school. im hoping the judge takes that accountable:-/

go down to the court immediately and confess about being an idiot for not knowing you're suppose to show no matter what. if you're truthful with the judge about everything and don't in with attitude they should be able to dismiss the charges. don't mouth off and if you have a question ask the judge for permission first.
from my experience you have a really good chance of getting it dismissed with only having to pay the $10 court fee. just make sure to go down there tomorrow. if you have school take the day off for court.

-go to the courthouse
-go to the traffic window and ask for GCA Services (since most likely your ticket is in collections)
-let them know that you would like to request a court date
-once they give you the court date, ask to purchase an "Abstract" ($10) which will reinstate your license until the court date
-go to court on the date, show the ticket that it is corrected, most judges will dismiss the FTA (failure to appear) and then u will just pay the correction fee of $10 (HOPEFULLY)

Doubt it's in collections yet, seeing as the courts give you 5 court days after your court date before closing your case. Tomorrow would be his 5th day seeing as today is a holiday.
courtpay.gcserv.com (https://courtpay.gcserv.com/)
check at that site if you're in collections.

well judging by the date he posted, its prolly in collections....but from the story it makes me think otherwise....he can still do what i told him and still ask for the Abstract to release the hold on his license up until the courtdate

oh he definitely needs to do the abstract thing. totally agree with you on that.

I was in that situation before, same problem... and they suspended my license and my ride! I went to court judge dismissed all charges against me and told me to go to DMV and take care of my chargers, which i had none. and $850 dollars u have to pay, tell the judge to go f*ck himself! the way the economy is, they won't make u pay.
by the way you guys are f*cking funny!!!!!!^^^^^
Duffm4n if you really have those connections then hook me up...i got few records that i need cleaned off. haha.

^ since when? damn, if this is true I was extremely lucky. Had 5 charges dismissed, only paid $10. Guessing it's an '09 thing just like the new OBD2 CAT bullshit.

Wait you get a must appear for a fix it ticket?

^ that's how it works. just because CHP writes it off doesn't mean they are in charge of dismissing the citation. you either need to see the judge or the clerk at the very least.

so they no longer allow you to have the fix it ticket signed off by local PD and mail or turn in the write off to court? you have to be physically present in front of a judge?

I was the first one in my area (which is the area the OP is in) to actually have to pay the $25 amount. Lady didn't even know how to do it. But I didn't get lucky with my REF ticket like Duff, I still had to pay $400.

does this abstract deal work with a missed court appearance for a speeding ticket as well?
