So, I've decided that I want to legitimately set up my 5.1 speaker system.

But I really don't care about these speakers, I'm going to upgrade by may but I just want to know where I should put all of it!

How should I position everything... Any ideas?

i got teh same speakers.. right now all 4 are on my desk.. the fronts are the the farthest area, and the rear speakers are closer towards me. still not great.

At my old room I used audio cables and routed the rears to the back of the room, ran the wires along the wall floor. It worked pretty good but you had to turn the rear channel up just to be safe. I would play a game and forget about the 5.1 and when i hear something that doesnt sound like the game id have to turn around and check lol.

Now i have a larger room, and just have em on my desk for now..
(i threw the sub on the floor now, this pic is kidna old*

Ahh alright. Well, what kind of cables should I get if I want to route the speakers to the back of the room. And since my desk is by the doorway... Should I just move my desk over to where my dresser is so everything's even?

i used typical rca cables

and then some female adapters

I bought em at radioshack but you could probably get em dirt cheap on ebay.

Yeah i had my pc in the middle of the wall, just run the wires along the floor by your window and under your bed. Mounting the speakers on teh wall looks tacky imo, i had them stacked on crap that brung them up to an acceptable height off the ground. Had the bed in the middle of the wall instead of in the corner, so it can be like your "couch" to watch etc.

You could probably paint or try to get some white wires or whatever so it wont look too ugly with black wires along the floor. Thats the only thing i hate about these 5.1 setups, its easier said than done when it comes to speaker mounting.

Yea. It is much easier said than done.

Well, I'm looking to upgrade, so... Would you happen to know a good 5.1 system w. tower speakers? Something I could connect my 360 & PC to?

U see the box right next to the blood iron? That's the DS3 haha.

just FYI, check out monoprice.com

pretty cheap on stuff like little RCA adapters or what not...

and they are local in Rancho Cucamonga so if you're around there you can pick up locally and save on shipping!

z-5500s are great. good quality for the money, of course they're not going to rival the quality of studio grade monitors but for the price they're some of the best speakers you can get. Subwoofer is huge, any closer to my computer and it'll rip out all the metal in my computer. Produces highs and mids very well, I listen to trance if that helps. It's also LOUD. Can't turn it up 1/16 or it'll shake my apartment and neighbors will complain. PLEASE, whatever you do, don't get bose...

the ds3r was shitting on me, wouldnt keep the overclocks, would always reseet the oc upon reboots.. the bloodiron is holdin strong.. e6700 @ 3.7ghz..

It's about an hr away, so I wouldn't mind paying shipping. Better than driving 2 hours.

Thanks for the website, I'll definitely check it out.

no bose? why not?

Yea the Blood Iron is sick as hell. I actually started running stock because I got into cars and I knew if I screwed something up in my system I would have to sacrifice car shit... So I backed down lol.

An E 6700 @ 3.7GHZ not bad, on Air?

I got my E6550 to 3.8GHz on air, and I got my E6300 to 3.2GHz on air. But with the DS3 which was surprising.
