It didn't seem like there was absolute certainty on how many valves per cylinder, so I started looking around the internet and found people doing engine tests. The SOHC ka24e does have two intake, and one exhaust. (What a world, what a world!)

That is correct; two intake and one exhaust. I believe it's the same for DOHC as well.

I'm going back to my original, "I feel cheated!" comment. Those bastards should have given us aftermarket manifolds.

I know what you mean by feeling cheated. It's definitely unfair.

DOHC - dual over head cam
SOHC - single overhead cam
it took me a long time to figure that one out
the dohc has 16 - 4 a cylinder i thought the sohc had 2 a cylinder but i stand corrected

God, I'm a dumb-ass. I look at my engine every day (checking my oil and other stuff) and it says, clear as day, "16 valve". Sorry!!!!!

What she probably means is the KA24DE (DOHC) has 4 valves per cylinder. 2 intake, 2 exhaust. Truck and 240. Only the SOHC 2.4 had 3 per cylinder.

Yeah, somebody started getting confusing somewhere, so here:
SOHC (240 or pickup): 3 valves per cylinder (12 total), 2 in, 1 out.
DOHC (240 only): 4 valves per cylinder (16 total), 2 in, 2 out.
Any questions?
