Well, right now, it takes about 20 tries to start my car to get it to actually start and idle. I kinda think its the pump, so would it be a good or bad idea to upgrade to a walbro? I just know SR people use them, is there disadvantages or problems I would run into if I installed one on my SOHC?

Can't just buy a normal fuel pump meant for your car? Or are you boostin' soon? If you are then go ahead, only risk is messin' up your stock fpr.

Get the walbro, and get new gaskets for everything
got a walbro on my sohc bout 6 months now no probs

Considering a walbro performs better then OE replacement parts and is much cheaper its not only a good idea, but for future purposes its a good thing to have. Also a high flow pump wont mess with anything, you might just consume a bit more fuel if you mess with fuel pressure settings or tune. Only MAF/injectors will cause issues on a stock untuned car, a high flow fuel pump shouldn't provided its installed correctly.

Also whats the mileage on your car? Does it run normal after start up? Any recent maintenance that you performed? Have you replaced your spark plugs, wires, rotor and cap for the distributor? Also seeing as your in IL and we have some freezing temperatures it may be battery related. How old is the battery?
You cant always jump into conclusions, it might not be the pump. Just giving you some advice, also if your in Chicago or nearby you can contact me for help.

Make sure the fuel return line isnt leaking/clogged.

Haha, thanks for the help.
I have been dealing with this problem for a while now, just now it's starting to piss me off though. Engine has 86k miles on it, yes, 86k is right.
I replaced the following.
Fuel filter
Filter
MAF
Dizzy
Spark Plugs
Timing was done by a mechanic, so that's right.
No leakage or fuel smell from inj. or anyhting, all of them are firing.
Tomorrow Im hoping to clean the IACV seeing if that helps.
Battery is about 3 months old, its a Gold Duralast, I paid like 214$ for this fucking thing.
I wish I were closer so we could meet up and you could help me out and shit, but im in Springfield :-/
After startup it runs perfectly.
It was like, 30-35 degrees today, and it still took about 20-25 tries.

Damn you paid $214 for an Autozone battery? That's crazy.
Oh and just because your timing was done by a mechanic doesn't mean it's right. Rent/Buy a timing gun and check it yourself.

I had a friend check it out, he said it's fine, his training to be a master tech or some shit.
I think he said it's at like, 15 degrees or something, I forgot though, been a while.
Another reason would be that, it runs fine once it actually starts up, if timing where off, wouldn't it not stay running at all?

Fuel lines seem to be clear, I ran it through into a bucket, steady stream.
Return line im no sure about, just the fuel line coming from the fuel filter.

I highly doubt that it is your fuel pump. Why don't you just hook up a fuel pressure guage and check the pressure? Does that make too much sense or something?
Putting a walbro on your stock engine will do nothing at all, no possible performance gains or losses.
