<br>Most of this week's <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/NissanGTR/">Nissan GT-R</a> tuning news has been coming out of the <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/TokyoAutoSalon/">Tokyo Auto Salon</a>, but South Side Performance is making its own headlines. The tuning firm based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is offering a set of upgraded stock turbochargers for the GT-R that have the potential to boost output to 820 hp when used in conjunction with other (undisclosed) performance modifications.<br><br>The upgrade consists of swapping out the stock turbos' center section with remachined compressor and turbine housings, sized 68mm and 53.8mm, respectively. The aluminum compressor wheel is good for up to 32 psi of boost, and since the basic hardware remains, the swap appears to be a simple bolt-on affair. According to South Side, the turbos make more power at stock boost levels and provide a linear power band throughout the rev range.<br><br><a href="http://gt-rr.com/r35/manufacturer/south_side_performance">GT-RR.com</a> is distributing the GTR820RR kit for South Side, and owners can send their stock turbos and $6,499 for the upgrade, with an approximate turnaround time of one week. Of course, the next question is: how will the stock clutches and transmission hold up to the additional power? <em>Check out the images of the setup in the gallery below and hit the jump for the press release.</em><br><br><div><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/south-side-performance-nissan-gt-r-turbo-upgrade/">South Side Performance Nissan GT-R Turbo Upgrade</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/south-side-performance-nissan-gt-r-turbo-upgrade/1297492/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/01-gtr-turbo-upgrade-ws_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/south-side-performance-nissan-gt-r-turbo-upgrade/1297493/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/02-gtr-turbo-upgrade-ws_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/south-side-performance-nissan-gt-r-turbo-upgrade/1297494/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/03-gtr-turbo-upgrade-ws_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/photos/south-side-performance-nissan-gt-r-turbo-upgrade/1297495/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2009/01/04-gtr-turbo-upgrade-ws_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title=""></a></div><br><br>[Source: South Side Performance via <a href="http://www.bespokeventures.com/blog/2009/01/15/worlds-first-turbo-upgrate-for-r35-gt-r-exclusively-at-gt-rrcom/">TheRealJDM</a>]<p><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/16/south-side-performance-introduces-820-hp-turbo-upgrade-for-nissa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>South Side Performance introduces 820 hp turbo upgrade for Nissan GT-R</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both"><a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/16/south-side-performance-introduces-820-hp-turbo-upgrade-for-nissa/">South Side Performance introduces 820 hp turbo upgrade for Nissan GT-R</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.autoblog.com">Autoblog</a> on Fri, 16 Jan 2009 19:28:00 EST. SSP is pretty sweet company. They had direct port on there GT-R the week they got it. IIRC the owner has 2 more on order. I for sure need to make a trip do to thier shop.

I wonder what else comes with that setup(tuning, injectors)

6,449 compared to hennessy's 20K. I think the new power might shred the tranny, which would suck seeing as this more than likely voids the warranty

Ya know this is the first somewhat reasonably priced thing i've seen for the GTR

Apparently, Zilviabot has the same RSS feeds as me, lol.

I'm pretty sure the warranty is shit once you put this on, nevermind abusing the transmission.

I doubt it will shred the tranny unless your using it launch mode. Nobody has had any problems with the trans outside of the idiots who have used launch mode repeatedly.

If that's the case I think quite a few GTR owners would purchase this.

why wouldn't you use it. its there to be used not to stare at. i think its stupid they have a tranny in there that cant support the power

i think changing the wheels voids the warranty, so it would be safe to say this would lol

That and when you send your car to SSP they won;t part out your car and have you wait 2 years for stuff you already paid for. Hennesy is a hack, he only builds good cars for magazines, and anyone with a little know how and a lot of budget can do that. I pretty sure if you gave most of the guys here on Zilvia a viper and 50,000 dollars they could make 1000 whp too.
