So... I was looking at some DIYMA CES coverage, and Autopage has improved their 2way paging/tracking system, which won 2008's "Best Of Innovations" at CES last year...

C3 AutoPage (http://www.c3autopageusa.com/)

http://www.c3autopageusa.com/uploads/C3_FEATURES___BENEFITS_2.pdf

Allows use of a GSM cell phone (AT&T + others) to interact with your alarm (lock/unlock, remote start, etc), and track your car. Basic plan shows $150/yr (cheaper than Boost Mobile "lo jack"), with 200 uses/month... that's plenty!

Plus it has "1 use" of a bunch of other shit, like a "GeoFence" (you get a notification when your car leaves a certain area you define)...

Has anyone gotten hands on this? I'll try to locate one tomorrow and see if I can try it out lol.

How have I never heard of this?

*Uses actual GPS system (Siemens chipset) - not cell phone GPS*

Do you still use Boost lojack? I have to believe this is cheaper...

i had the phone in my acura for a few days to see how it'd work, it works just fine.... i just never hardwired it. i'll probably wire it up proper when i get the 240 running.

boost lojack is unreliable, sucks ass and anyone who does it deserves to have their car stolen with such shitty security measures...

You can hit up desmon margan and tell him I sent you. He offers good prices on alarm installs and equipment if you feel like doing it yourself. I think my alarm with a back up battery and piezo horns mounted inside of my car ran me about 650 for a stealth install... Once I am done with my wiring I will have him do his magic, and then run behind him and hide whatever he did and then sleeve it.

I trust him.

I'll summarize it like this... who has a cell phone that doesn't seem to work when it's in your house?

now picture your car in a storage center getting pieced out... shit wont get any signal.

You're talking about the GPS, or the alarm functions via cell phone? I get great service anywhere I've been with my AT&T GSM.

The GPS I'd have doubts on, but just being able to remotely "panic" the alarm would be worth it to me... and at that very moment that you realize, "oh shit, my car's stolen", to be able to track it would be worth big $$$ to me at least.

I'll probably get one soon, and check it out.

what does "uses with plan" mean? Is that how many times you track the location of your car? If so, I don't see why there is the need to upgrade.

might be cheaper in the long run as well compared to the 1k lowjack if you don't plan to own your car for over 6 yrs, and their price doesn't increase during that time.

If the service is only compatible with gsm phones, I gather that means if you have verizon, its not going to work.

I live in the hills of bel air. I used to have at&t/cingular, and service would be non-existant in certain parts of the canyons. my verizon phone gets signal perfectly here.

Autopage C3 Cell Phone Remote Car Start, Security, GPS Tracking Video by Lomax - MySpace Video (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=21607530)

in the video the host mentions that a lot of companies have been using cell phones as pagers (or whatever). so... what companies do? i think it'd be cool to have some sort of program that'll unlock your car with you cell phone. all i've heard of so far is this c3 autopage shit and some company called sentinel which i wouldn't trust, look at the website:

Car Alarm Remote Engine Starter by cell phone (http://sentinelcaralarms.com/)

Anyone seen any more info on this?

As far as I understand it, this is an alarm add-in, that you can purchase separately (but you have to have an alarm that'll support it to tie int).

I'm contemplating getting an Autopage alarm just for this purpose, and my emails to autopage's contact email have gone unanswered. I'm about to start calling "authorized distributors", but I'm afraid they'll tell me whatever they want to just to sell me an alarm at full price.

Someone's got to know something!
