I have a 95 240sx LE

Basically whilst driving around my passenger side daytime running light will go out and my drivers side will become twice as bright then after a set amount of time it will revert back.

My regular lights are fine and I don't see any loose connections. Any ideas?

thanks

US cars didn't get those so you're best bet is to trace is out in the FSM, I don't know a thing about them. There's an underhood control module which could be bad, or I guess the switch may have something to do with it too.

its probably the aftermarket control module. it sends a pulsed signal to the lights. its horrible, i removed one for a canadian S13 customer who came down for his low-pro headlight upgrade.

the one thing i dont like about daytime running lights is that it slowly ruins halogen bulbs by leaving carbon deposits in the glass capsule. if you ever look at the bulbs, you'll notice hazing.

Ah I forgot American cars didn't have them, thanks for the info. I'll dig up my FSM and find the module, logically that's the best option. Nice to see some familiar names, haven't been on here in a long time.

This post is so there's an actual answer somewhere on the internet. I looked high and low as to what the cause of this Day-time Running Light (DRL) intermittent twice as bright light issue was and found nothing. i had to troubleshoot with a Multi-Meter and traced it back to the the DRL Unit. I replaced mine and it solved the problem

If you have this same problem, the problem is almost surely the DRL unit.

Apparently they are prone to failure on all mid-90s Nissan's (Source: Auto Wrecker)
