ran down a Ferrarri F40 !!! THEN THE COPS PULL HIM OVER

So the day before yesterday, I was heading home from work around 10ish.
I work in Trabuco Oaks by Lake Forest, as I am turning right onto Santiago Canyon I can barely make out the outline of the car that just went around the next corner and say to my girlfriend," I think that is a Ferrari " She says, "how do you know?" So I say "I will show you!" She replies " You can't catch it in this car." (and mind you I am driving her bone stock 96 Honda Accord with a 5 speed all weather tires at almost 200k miles.)
So about 5 turns into it I start to see the tail lights as he goes into the next turn (at this time I know it is a Ferrari but it doesn't look like any one I have ever seen.) After a few more turns I am now within 2 cars of him. I never took the car over 70 and the posted speed limit was 55 (yes it's speeding but I just had to know) so then I say "holy shit that is a f40!!!" Do you know how rare those are? There are less than 400 in the world and I am behind one on a back road to work?!?!?"
So I roll the windows down and turn off the radio to enjoy the symphony of exhaust and engine noise from being behind this beast of a car.
I tell her "watch he will downshift and then go for it on the next big straight" He down shifts, the pitch of the car picks up and as he exits the turn, gets on the throttle and this car moves like I am standing still. He then gets on the brakes as he enters the next mild sweeper.
As we are approaching the turn I realize that we are getting close to the local sheriff's speed trap, and I decide to get one last look. The guy gets on it again as I get within a few cars of him just to look. We pass the cop at a cool 60-65 in a 55 but the Ferrari must not have seen the sheriff's suv at the side of the road until he past him at 70 or more.
The cop jumps behind me with all his lights on and takes chase.
I think at that moment "fuck! " but think well there is one of him and I did lightly use the e brake to slow and didn't jump on the brakes like the Ferrari so I am going the speed limit when the cop catches me, and i decide to signal and pull to the right, the cop suddenly passes me and takes chase after the Ferrari. The Ferrari blew his chance to make a run for it, and the cop caught him easily. As I pass them I slow to get a good look of the whole car, because I never thought I would have the chance to see one of these in person on the road, and as I get a good look the guy in the Ferrari's face is priceless. Like "what the fuck? I tried to outrun a stock Honda Accord and am probably going to get a ticket?!?!?!
Crazy, I still can't believe it, pretty funny, I don't think I could stop laughing after he passed me for the Ferrari.
Just thought it was funny, and wanted to share.
Has anyone else seen a Ferrari F40 while driving.

I've never heard such a beautiful noise in my life. The popping and banging from overrun was insane! Even when he was off in the distance I could still hear his car! Thanks to the busy traffic I got a good look at it. Beautiful

I saw one here in PA a few years back. Dead of winter but it was nice out and there was an exotic meet at a country club. I was seeing F430s, 360s, a murcielago, etc... then I see an F40 leaving the meet and flying down the street. Thing was wicked.

Wow a Miura. I have not seen one of those on the road in years. Back in Palo Alto when I was in my 20's there was a guy that owned a Miura off Oregon Expressway.
Miura's were the cars that started the whole Super Car thing. It is in my mind still the dopest Lamborghini ever built for sheer design i.e. looks.

On the F40 I have actually seen one driving around Hollywood. Of course I see Murcielagos and GT40's, GTR's etc... all the time around here. Hell there was a Panoz Esperanta parked around the corner from my building one afternoon. Yes I have pics and can post them. Oh and I won't forget the night I came home from the Coffeebean and a Carrera GT was sitting in front of our building. The guy stepped and I commented Nice Carrera and he was like hey you want to sit in it. I was like sure. 500k car. lol Ya I took pics of it as well.

That's sick. I love Ferrari's. I have seen a large variety of them. When you sit in them and listen to the motor you realize why you paid so much for it. The best story I have is with a carerra gt and a group of m3's. And1 with a ford cobra r. That is an unbelievable car. I want to see an f40 racing on the street!

I have seen an F40 on the freeway, at the time I was 24 years old. I didn't know any better; I taunted the man driving the F40 long enough that he finally dropped the hammer on that TT V-8. I will post my story shortly.

I've seen a couple, only one running/driving. Beautiful, beautiful cars, and the sound definitely moves you.

I respect them the most out of any of the Ferrari's because they were truly purpose-built race cars for the street - no ABS, no radio, no A/C, no window motor (not even glass except in the front), and radical aero for a street car at the time. It was the anti-thesis of what the Porsche 959 was all about, which was the other super-uber-performer of that era.

That being said, any $20k supercharged C5+ Z06 can out handle, out brake, and out accelerate an F40, or F50 for that matter. Sick. And they don't have stupid-short maintenance schedules.

As far as the reasons for owning Ferrari's (sexy look, sexy sound, nice "driving experience", status symbol) they are the top - some might prefer an Enzo, but I'd take an F40 out of all of them.

Yep, the F40 is one of my favorite Ferraris of all time. A few other favorites include the 575 Maranello, 250 GTO, 250 Lusso, F355, etc.

Testarossas are cool and all but they never did much for me.

Some of the new Ferraris are nice, such as the 599 GTB Fiorano (Novitec twin charged 599:love:). Like Lamborghini however, they've become too "civilized" imo. The only ones that aren't like that are the Enzo and F430 Scuderia.

Nevertheless when I see a Ferrari (or any exotic) around town, I still drool, especially F430s and their lovely exhaust note. Getting passed by one on the highway is pretty awesome.

And while I don't care for 612 Scagliettis, I have to say they look better in person than they do in pics.

Oh yeah, I hate the new California.

I read somewhere that there were supposed to only be 400 produced, but actual production numbers were around 1300, which is not really that exclusive as far as Ferrari's go. Still, to be pulling over 500k has to say something about its desirability.

Yeah, Most high dollar European cars are the same way. High maintenance and parts only available from the mother land.

I saw a Ford GT40 at a car classic car meet once
I saw 2 in a garage in Pasadena once.
My friends band played down here. So after we went to this girls house in Pasadena whos parents werent home.
Her dad had all this cool steam powered car stuff all over the "house" (fucking huge place, gates, ya know, mcmansion shit).
so I said something about Jay Leno.
She tells me her dad and him are friends, and takes me out to the garage.
7 car garage with crazy ass steam engine cars and shit like that. Black and white checkered garage floor.
And at the very end were 2 GT40's. one was blue and on the ground, and i think the other was red and stacked above it on the lift.
crazy huh.


I also got to see a ENZO driving around.
It was the same one Eddie Griffith crashed.
It was a couple months before he totaled it.

Saw one in Sheffield a few years back. At first I was like......look at that dick in an mr2 with an F40 kit...but then it dawned on me. It was going the other way so I spun round (not literally) to try and catch it. Traffic was on my side and after bit I was behind it. Before long we were both out of the city and he bolted. I was in an old crappy mitsi colt but caught up again when he hit traffic. Followed for a good few miles before the road opened up, and he disappeared. Was a good day

Yep i have seen one in person leaving my grandfathers house in central mass. I was pulling up to an intersection as he was coming down a hill directly across from me. I of course waited for him and waived him through the intersection so i could follow him, I was in my S13 and was able to follow him for @ 1.5 miles. He then slammed it down a few gears and took off, it was so so rad.
