Ok so today I got really frustrated that the rear main seal wouldn't come off so I turned into the Hulk:

I'm afraid of metal shavings and what not flew back into the engine, how worried should I be and what do you suggest I do?
Where could I get a replacement too since I couldn't find it on search.

Had no idea I was reading a KA rear main seal write up until I looked closer, who would have known there were bolts in the oil pan...

That part is Pot Metal so it normally breaks off in chunks remove whats left and piece it back together to see whats missing.
If its a whole piece then then your good

No. The rear main carrier is aluminum. As for breaking it, I'm damn surprised you didn't know there were more bolts, it's pretty common. I've only seen a few cars that don't have bolts through the pan into the carrier.

Which cars would those be, so I can laugh at them...

Anyone who didn't think it was held on with magic or semen.
but yea it appears you already have the engine out. Why don't you just undo the other 10 or so bolts that hold the oil pan on and check to see your self...

Oh man hahahahaha failure, it's currently sitting in a tire since I have no engine stand and I returned the hoist to my friend.

So....cant you just drop the pan, inspect, clean - so we can close the thread?
No post here on zilvia is going to magically bring the seal back
