Hello, I was just wondering if anyone knows the proper ways to store a motor. Because I was planning on buying an extra in case mine dies or I need to take it out(my ka is turbo). So any hints would be helpful, I plan to store it for a year or less depending if i get another shell.

I've kept SRs and KA sitting on my backyard for quite a while just covered
with those blue nylon carps they sell at Home Depot.

Yeah and plug all the holes so bugs don't shit on your internals.

that's it? no draining the coolant or oil and turning the motor by hand once every now and then?

i wouldn't drain everything and let it sit dry. the oil inside lubricates and keeps any parts from rusting

Drain the oil/coolant. Coat the engine with wd40 every month. Any hod-rod forum or classic car website will give you the proper info.

your best friend is marine fogging oil. you should be able to find it at your local parts store. it has directions for use, but you basically spray it into a vac line or into the intake somehow at kill your engine with it. now the internals of your engine are coated with oil and should keep for many years.

when you get ready to start it again, you might have to get some new plugs, but that's much cheaper that a siezed engine!!

google "storing a car/vehicle for long durations" or something along those lines
