just wondering if there is any length diffrences in stock driveshafts on s13's. i am currently using a 92 d/s on a 89 coupe with a blacktop sr. it looks short where it mates up to the transmission. should i be using a diffrnt d/s? thanks.

The automatic driveshaft is different in length i believe. So you will need a manual. As for the dohc and sohc shaft..i believe they are identical, correct me if im wrong.

the usdm driveshafts are a a bit shorter then the japanese one if you want a shaft that fits perfect find a engine place or someoene that sells clips they sell them for about 50 buck from what i saw on my friends car its about 1 inch shorter

Completely incorrect. US vs. JDM shafts are the same length, the US shaft is only different in that it uses the forward rubber bushing right past the front u-joint. The difference in length comes from ABS vs. non ABS, the ABS shaft is shorter to accommodate the added snout length on the diff to fit the wheel skid sensor. Since a lot of JDM cars were equipped with ABS the driveshaft will be shorter on a US car but still fit fine. There should be a little play anyway in the transmission as far as length, otherwise the driveshaft rides against the rear seal and dust cover, wearing them down.

great thanks for the quick replies. is there anyway using the stock d/s being shorter can cause the tranny to leak oil?? just out of curiosity. anybody have any leak problems???

nothing wrong with it being a bit shorter havent seen any issues with the swaps ive done ive just made an observation from the jdm shafts and the usdm as long as you have a manual shaft youll be okay make sure you tighten all bolts correctly on shaft ive seen so many who have threaded the bolts in wrong and thats a pain afterwards

Good reading skills. One of the shafts you have is an ABS shaft, hence it being shorter. You may have both right now, I've installed/pulled over sixty in my time working on 240s. I think my experience, plus the fact that I can type the English language speak for itself.
