Rod knock doom!

pretty much... the SOHC decided to poop out on me and started knocking like crazy haha

it was pretty..... intense?

well anyway, i have another sohc from an old hatch I had but.

its been sitting for about a year with the oil in it and im about to swap it into my car.

anything i should do before hand to make sure it runs like it did before?

or just change the oil and good to go?

make sure u prime the motor before hand ( disconect ignition system,crank engine) just to make sure every thing is lubercaited .. thats the only thing i can think of.. good luck dude..

sohc has hydraulic lifters... there's some articles about checking em

if the timing chain set was replaced on that donor engine, then it should be good to go i guess

Agreeing with what was already said, I would take the valve cover off and wiggle the lifters to make sure they don't need pumped with oil.
