Hey what's up, I just wanted to get more Nissan guru's or JDM enthusiasts from the High Desert (Oak Hills, Hesperia, Victorville, all the way up to Barstow) to know that we have a strong community up here. If you're in the HD chime in on this thread for monthly meets. These are exclusive JDM meets, so no ricers who like to race and drift in parking lots. The cops are cool with us up here and we don't want to ruin that. I will be updating this particular thread on the monthly meets.

Yea seriously, it would be nice to have a good size meet even nearby communities like rancho san bernardino its not that far of a drive its basically 30 miles away at the most from those cities

Sorry fella's, its been a while since I last visited here. We have one meet per month. The dates and the location change. We mix things up a bit to keep things interesting. We have a very good crowd up here and we all know each other pretty well. The last meet, which is pictured above, drew over 20 "modded" cars. We took photo's at the end of the night after dinner so a few weren't able to stay.

I will keep this thread informed of our next month's meet. At least a one weeks heads up will be given. I hope to see more cars out, it doesn't have to be Nissan.....just as long as no rice heads and negative attitudes :)

Actually there are a lot of fixed up cars up here. I live off of Main St.; the housing behind the new iHop and there are Evo's, Sti's, Lexus IS, Infiniti G35's, S2000, Vette's, 300zx's, MR2, Porshe, a few Honda's, and a few 350z's.

When I'm on my way home, I see regulars going home or leaving so we have quite a few. As far as elsewhere I see a few s-chassis towards deeper in Hesperia, but nothing really hopped up.

Just to let you 240 guys know. I have a brand new in box MOMO steering wheel hub for sale. I used to own a S14, actually two, but got rid of them before I could begin my project. Let me know if any of you are interested.....I'll give it to the HD folks for cheap :)

A friend of mine has a dyno at his shop out there. I usally go up there to dyno because I get a hell of a good deal. His shop car is pretty cool too, it's a hooked up SR powered 510 thats tubbed out in the rear.

I think he said he now has room for the Greddy manifold on it but he might be switching the head out for the Neo VVL head. I'll prob head up there tomorrow since I have been there in a while.

woW! That is really nice. What's the name of the shop? I'm looking to baseline dyno my car before I start on the engine mods. A few more parts are coming in shortly and the rest is piled up in the original boxes just waiting to play :) I'm going to tune it with an Osiris reflash using the cipher tool. I'm trying to reach 290whp N/A......my ultimate goal is 310whp, but that's a long shot, lol. Do you know what kind of dyno the shop is using? Dyno Dynamics, Dynojet, Mustang, etc.?

Was heading home from LA today when i saw a s13 coupe, sped up to check it out, was decent, slammed, bad offset rims, silvia front, looked better than my s13. Well i was gonna give the dude a thumbs up, i was in my s2k. So when i was next to him he sped up. Im like ok, than he gets behind me, than on the other side of me, and sped off again. Im like whats he doing, he is making it impossible to give him a thumbs up. Than at one point he thinks he is in a nascar or indy race and starts swerving right to left. Warming up the tires i guess, im like oh shit he's gonna do some stunts lol. To think before he saw me he was driving normal. And they say honda guys are the ricers lol

Nice work so far. White is a nice way to go. I had to get rid of my second S14 SE because of the attention it took away from my Z :( I like my truck better anyways that I replaced it with LOL.

The date is firm, bring your crew on over. It makes for a nice drive, plus we stay out pretty long (not that you have to of course). We are a pretty close group up here and have good conversations that last close to midnight.....yikes! I know, bad news for us who have to work the next day or have to drive far. My point is, it's worth the drive :)

For sure! I stopped counting after we hit 30 cars :) I should have taken some photo's, but I did a photo shoot (three different cars) down the hill and was super tired and lazy. Lots of new faces and an overall good group. Its nice how the cops just pass by and not bother us. I saw about three last night with absolutely no problems.

yup ka-t here, my friend has a ka-t zenki but he never really drives it as far as I know. As for others, I've seen like 2 other turbo 240s up here but I don't know the owners personally.

What's happening fella's? I was driving in Main St. this afternoon just going over the overpass where the train goes under and spotted a red FD. Soooo nice, it was a short glance because there was a big loaded truck in front of me at the stop light. I wanted to catch up, but by the time it was green he was long gone. I'm not sure what type of body kit or wheels, but I know that the rims were black w/polished lip. Anyone up here seen this car before?

Hmmmm, 80+ miles one way (over 160 miles) in one day on my Z.....I dunno. I haven't even hit 3k miles on my 3-year old car :) Seriously though, I wouldn't mind, but we would have to keep the cruise a little smaller than our usual meets. Maybe Nissan's only? That way we don't get lost or break apart all the time. Less anxiety and less stops to regroup the fella's. Summer is around the corner, but not when its too hot......not good for our engines on long drives.

Well when your not very mechanically inclined yourself it's pretty easy to mistake someone who isn't very knowledgeable for someone who is... Bottom line any shop you go to is going to tell you they know everything... I can tell you that fsr has no first hand experience building these cars along with driving them...

There is alot more to a shop then having good mechanics... Anyone can bolt on parts! It's having the first hand knowledge on how to properly setup a vehicle based on the customers goals/budget... Your gonna be picking parts out of a catalog and I can tell you this right now your not gonna get nearly as much bang for your buck at the minimum if they don't demolish your car.

This forum can be very resourceful... I wouldn't really read any of the tech stuff on here personally... But you can search around and see what other people are running and get a good idea of what meets your power goals and budget then find a reputable shop to install the parts.

I closed down my shop in Hesperia and now do general automotive... More money and less bs... If you seriously want to do something you could bring the car to my shop and I can do the install and help you figure out what kind of setup you should run...

^ word, a trained monkey can bolt a turbo onto an engine and even welding isn't a big deal if you go down to your local muffler shop and have them weld you up some flanges and pipes here and there.

tuning the engine is vital. It can be the difference between a daily driven ka-t and a 240 with a blown engine sitting in your backyard.

I've got a ka-t tuned on a JWT chip and it's been running great. The chip is really expensive (600 bucks) and you can pretty much accomplish the same thing with an SAFC NEO, etc on a good tune.

I got my car dynoed at OSR performance(aka J & J performance i think?) and they are really cool guys that know their stuff. Reggie down there has tuned a few of my friends cars with ka-t's and they said he does really good work.

I've heard some bad things about powerhouse...a friend of mine has an s14 ka-t and the quality of work done to his car was shitty IMHO. It looked ghetto-rigged, cheap without any attention to the cosmetics and they charged him a lot of money.

Do your research and figure out what the limits are as far as the hp limits on the engine(rebuild or stock internals?) and the limits on your budget. From there you can decide on what parts will work for you GL.

You would be surprised the things that people can fuck up...

It's not really the knowledge of bolting things on or tuning thats the real concern in this case... It's having knowledge of the products and first hand experience using them... Most shops would tell you to pick something out of a book... Just a bolt on kit where as someone who truely knows their stuff who isn't afraid of fab work can set up something better for less money. They can also adjust to your power goals and budget where alot of kit's can limit you.

Afc's are horrible... You have absolutely no timing control! On a setup with low power goals and a tight budget they can get the job done but are in no way ideal. As far as ecu tuning I stray all my customers away from their ecu's... I don't believe in their tunes! They are too hit or miss... Not enough r&d goes into their tunes and their customer service just isn't there. You may have had a good experience but there are too many with poor experiences to justify it. I highly recommend Enthalpy over Jwt. Also I'm a huge believer in rom tunes simply because it eliminates user error... Alot of cases I recommend it over a standalone for that reason alone.

I've tuned alot of afc's and some power fc's and thats the extent of my knowledge when it comes to tuning... I'll say this much tho a trained monkey could tune an afc... Yet I seemed to see people mess that up as well...

Welding and fabricating isn't all that tough... Another thing that seems pretty basic... It just isn't always that way... I've been in the game for about 8 years now and I've seen some horrible things... There is just no money in this building 240's... I gave up long ago! All these ghetto ass shops popping up everywhere doing shotty work... Ghetto ass rhd swaps... $3,000 sr swaps? Give me a break... I'm not working that cheap!!! There is a reason why all the swaps I've done run for long periods of time and their lucky if their customer makes it around their block... It's all good tho cause they come with no warranty!

ok good to know. the only thing that i've driven that's near that kind of hp is my titan-in terms of sport compact cars i haven't had the chance to mod/build one up to the figures i mentioned...i was just trying to have some type of goal in mind. took my car to a friend's shop to have it looked over. apparently the previous owner either ran over something because the oil pan looks like it's been punched by the incredible hulk. the jolt of the impact was enough to bust the transmission mount:tweak:. i've already ordered the parts and will have it fixed by next week. i have been driving around hearing a wierd clunk whenever i braked too hard or dropped the clutch too hard and thought it might be the bushings. P.S. one of the guys at the shop told me the stock turbo system from the sr20det bolts right on to the ka. is that the case? cuz if so i might look into doing that along with a proper tune.

that's not entirely true. The manifold for one won't bolt up to the ka.

You can however(and many people are doing this) get the Megan bottom mount t-2 manifold for the ka which places the turbo in the same location as if you had a stock sr20. One of my buddies on nico has a ka-t with a bottom mount s15 turbo and he had to wrap up some A/C lines where the downpipe came out just so they wouldn't catch on fire. I've heard that the sr20 fmic kits will fit this setup on the ka, but i'm not 100% sure..should be pretty close and require some modification tho. Then just get a t-28 from an s14 sr20 or a s15 turbo which is capable of 300 hp =]

Yeah I guess if I got $500 for labor to do a swap it's not all bad if I just dropped a motor in a car and sent the customer on their way in a day... I don't do 1 day swaps and all this half ass crap I see these shops doing now a days... I'm not gonna lower myself to that and I'm not gonna do swaps for sub 3k...

The problem is people who don't know any better go into these shops and believe everything they hear! Then they expect me to compete... Fuck that I'd rather be doing something else... Which is now general automotive! I'd like to see someone get $80per hour in a ghetto ass shop working on honda's and 240's... It's retarded.

Whoever told you that shit bolts up from an sr to ka is a complete idiot! Spooled is right about the bottom mount turbo setup tho... I've done some of those and they are great for a budget! I'm a big fan of that if it's all that fits your budget! I've done a few and they work and eliminates alot of fab work. I much prefer something bigger then a t28 on a ka tho even for 250hp. Like I said tho it's all about your budget and power goals!

250rwp is more than enough fun! You really have to drive in a car really making that much horsepower to appreciate it. People don't realize how fast that really is! I've built setups up over 400hp and it just gets silly to even drive...

I was at 10 psi for a long while on my ka-t which is a little more than 250 rwhp and I was keeping up with evo's, sti's and 350z's no problem. The thing with ka's is that they produce a ton of torque, at 250 rwhp you'll be close to maybe 270-280 tq(more with quick-spooling turbo's) trying to maintain rear traction with that much torque can be tricky lol

You guys see any new nissan's up here? I haven't

10psi but with what turbo? That doesn't always equate to that much wheel hp... Yeah smaller turbos will cause the torque to peak early and hit higher numbers on a dyno but it's not really a usable 270-280... Granted it's still alot of power and more than enough to walk all over those vehicles. It's all in relation to the rest of your setup as well...

I've never seen a tastefully modified car up in the high desert... There were some nice cars out here! None of which that were street driven... I had a couple friends that moved who had some badass cars in Apple Valley... Strictly track cars tho... My cars only ever saw the trailer too...

Do you get messed with in your 240? I drove my track car to jack in the box one time... I got followed there by a honda... Then I had someone pull up next to me in the drive thru and ask me dumb questions while I was trying to order my food then I got followed home by another kid... I thought he was following me so I gave it alittle gas and he was waaay back there so I figured I was trippin... Then he pulls into my driveway and asks me a bunch of dumb questions about drifting...

I've built several cars over the years... Doing an sr swap right now actually and building a couple ka s13's... Did an s14sr swap last month but nothing wild... Haven't painted a car in forever too...

oh hell yeah, it isn't the fastest-spooling turbo but at 3K the flash-spool hits hard and breaks the rear tires loose in first, sometimes even in second after a power shift lol

Oh god don't even call Powerhouse a tuning shop... They are fucking horrible... I tried to dyno a car there and I had to tell the guy how to hook everything up... Then the owner came out all cocky like he had a fucking clue... They need to stick to installing cold air intakes and gay ass wheels.There isn't a decent shop up here and there really isn't anything that isn't complete garbage anywhere near us...

Well when your not very mechanically inclined yourself it's pretty easy to mistake someone who isn't very knowledgeable for someone who is... Bottom line any shop you go to is going to tell you they know everything... I can tell you that fsr has no first hand experience building these cars along with driving them...

There is alot more to a shop then having good mechanics... Anyone can bolt on parts! It's having the first hand knowledge on how to properly setup a vehicle based on the customers goals/budget... Your gonna be picking parts out of a catalog and I can tell you this right now your not gonna get nearly as much bang for your buck at the minimum if they don't demolish your car.

This forum can be very resourceful... I wouldn't really read any of the tech stuff on here personally... But you can search around and see what other people are running and get a good idea of what meets your power goals and budget then find a reputable shop to install the parts.

I closed down my shop in Hesperia and now do general automotive... More money and less bs... If you seriously want to do something you could bring the car to my shop and I can do the install and help you figure out what kind of setup you should run...

We are "ALL" not surprised. That's just about the only positive thing you did for us up here. No one wants an ass or biatch working on their car.


You would be surprised the things that people can fuck up...

It's not really the knowledge of bolting things on or tuning thats the real concern in this case... It's having knowledge of the products and first hand experience using them... Most shops would tell you to pick something out of a book... Just a bolt on kit where as someone who truely knows their stuff who isn't afraid of fab work can set up something better for less money. They can also adjust to your power goals and budget where alot of kit's can limit you.

Afc's are horrible... You have absolutely no timing control! On a setup with low power goals and a tight budget they can get the job done but are in no way ideal. As far as ecu tuning I stray all my customers away from their ecu's... I don't believe in their tunes! They are too hit or miss... Not enough r&d goes into their tunes and their customer service just isn't there. You may have had a good experience but there are too many with poor experiences to justify it. I highly recommend Enthalpy over Jwt. Also I'm a huge believer in rom tunes simply because it eliminates user error... Alot of cases I recommend it over a standalone for that reason alone.

I've tuned alot of afc's and some power fc's and thats the extent of my knowledge when it comes to tuning... I'll say this much tho a trained monkey could tune an afc... Yet I seemed to see people mess that up as well...

Welding and fabricating isn't all that tough... Another thing that seems pretty basic... It just isn't always that way... I've been in the game for about 8 years now and I've seen some horrible things... There is just no money in this building 240's... I gave up long ago! All these ghetto ass shops popping up everywhere doing shotty work... Ghetto ass rhd swaps... $3,000 sr swaps? Give me a break... I'm not working that cheap!!! There is a reason why all the swaps I've done run for long periods of time and their lucky if their customer makes it around their block... It's all good tho cause they come with no warranty!

Whoever told you that shit bolts up from an sr to ka is a complete idiot! Spooled is right about the bottom mount turbo setup tho... I've done some of those and they are great for a budget! I'm a big fan of that if it's all that fits your budget! I've done a few and they work and eliminates alot of fab work. I much prefer something bigger then a t28 on a ka tho even for 250hp. Like I said tho it's all about your budget and power goals!

250rwp is more than enough fun! You really have to drive in a car really making that much horsepower to appreciate it. People don't realize how fast that really is! I've built setups up over 400hp and it just gets silly to even drive...

Terrible looking kit that was all moulded in and cracked everywhere... Shit was terrible! I saw a pretty boss looking s14 in A.V. when I was test driving my race car! You guys missed it about 3 years ago... There were a couple guys in the building behind me Steven and Alex that both had some pretty sick s13's... We all had 330+ hp built track cars at the time... Shit was tight they had a huge warehouse they use to drive their cars around inside around the posts. The shop had a paint booth we all used to paint our cars inside. Shit was mad fun! The business wound up going under and Alex moved up north and Steven did some formulad and then sold the car to move up in the mountains... I know he sold his z and is working on getting another s13...

There was a guy who came by my shop names Santos that had a pretty nice s13. He flaked on going to the track with me too... There was another dude Tim that was hella chill too... I've met a few people up here that were pretty cool... It would be nice to see some locals make it out to the track and drive their cars!

My wheels kinda suck and i'm only on a 2" drop but it looks alright and it gets the job done =] I've seen that orange s14.5 driving, not up close tho...this one guy has a white kouki on 19's who comes up once in a while, i think his name is alex or something but has an built sr20....when he comes up he bumps the high desert s14 kouki population to 4 lol

Yeah, i haven't seen that many nice cars up here. i'm guessing the majority of people don't care much up here, or they're garaging them for fear of theft? I've only lived here for about 3 years, but from what i've noticed...most people that live in the victorville/hesperia area use their hondas/nissans/*insert import name here* primarily for commuting, with looks coming in second. nope the closest is kikiriki in pomona...they have pollo la brasa. it's rotisserie(spelling?) style chicken. like el pollo loco but with flavor. and you eat it with french fries. then there's mr. pollo in west covina...or mario's in la mirada. in cerritos there's el rocoto it's in a mall next to a kabuki's. i'm not peruvian my wife is-i'm filipino...but i kinda like the peruvian stuff better...except adobo. oh and the bbq on skewers. I don't think there really is any real chinese food up here... It's miserable... We finally got vietnamese recently and none of the pho places up here are that great but decent. There used to be a Japanese place that was insane called Tatsuki but he went out of business... Super depressing... The sushi places out here are the absolute worst! That was my favorite place to sit down and eat... I really like italian food tho too and Mama Carpino's is insanely good for that up here.

I'm big on trying random places so I've hit mostly everything up here food wise and I do hate the selection... I ate at this dumpling place off of Nogales and the 60fwy in that 99 ranch market shopping mall and it was so good! I really like authentic chinese food!
