5spd transmission problems, ideas?

posting this up for a friend, hes pretty busy with life atm

he lost all gears but 4th

he started hearing a whining noise a couple days before this happened, the day it happened the whining got louder and then it stopped putting power to the ground

any ideas what couldve happened?
