This has happened twice now. Last night I drove my car at WOT to make a stop light and my power steering belt fell off. It was definilty at the right tightness. It is a kragen belt. Maybe i should have bought oem. Any suggestions why this mihgt happen.

Is the pulley damaged or misaligned?

It looks fine. Everything lines up right.

It's not aligned if you're throwing belts off. Check the pulley with the belt off, spin it and check for play.

i agree with projectrdm. if a pulley is frozen or has play it will throw the belt if the belt is damaged it will be thrown. have you done any work to it recently .

I will take it off and check. If it has play what should i do? Is there a bolt to tighten on the power steering pulley? I changed the front main seal awhile ago. I tightened it to 109 ft lbs. Other then that just changed some stuff that is completely irrevelant ( RUCA and front brakes)

If the pulley is just loose impact it back down tight, but you may find the pump shaft is bent causing it to wobble or that a bearing has gone out in the pump, giving play to the entire shaft.

The power steering pulley rotates perfect. I tightened all 4 of my waterpump pulley nuts about a half a turn. Then i ran it pretty hard on the way home and it was fine. Still kinda skeptical. When i am at a stoplight and turn my wheel my idle drops alot and goes back up. What could cause that?

That's normal, that's the pump working.
You have an alignment problem, or the wrong belt. Keep double-checking stuff.

I converted my KA24DE to use a single V belt from the trucks... I felt that its more idiot proof... I dont have AC or power steering though.. If everything is how it should be of course you should never throw the belt

Replaced the belt with an oem and its fit soo much better. I also noticed every time i tocuhed the other belt it would jumble up like a pretzel. Such a peice of crap. Thanks guys.
