I get a rattling sound from the shifter at about 2600rpm and I must push the stick forward to get rid of the sound.
Is this common with the Short shifters or could it be a syncro in the 5 speed manual trans?

very common, do you have version 1 or 2? The second version iirc has a plastic core or something to reduce most of the rattling.
maybe the shifter bushing? I don't know about this common short-shifter problem though

My B&M doesn't do this. My is only a couple months old though. I did notice more tranny noise in the cabin though.

I eliminated my problem by removing the center insert and not using the B&M shift knob. It works noise-free with the SR. The KA seems to have more vibration/noise, but the SR is quiet.

I don't know what version.......I think it is from 2005 or 2006.
What is the center insert that you can remove?

what i did was take the oem rubber boot. ( the part under the hose clamp ) its kinda long upper part and fold it over itself so it was twice as thick, and put a hose clamp on it, and viola no more shifter rattle
