Pro drifters and 350Z COnvertibles

Why is it that some guys in the formula drift series are drifting Z convertibles rather than the coupes? Aren't they inferior in stiffness, weight, etc? I was just wondering what you guys thought the reasoning was behind the choice of convertibles.

While we are on the topic of the Z convertibles in the Formula D series that Braille Auto Z that Sherman was sliding looked sooo nasty! If that is his new car I cant wait til he gets used to that thing. He looked pretty sketchy driving it.

i bet they do have many verts left over but its just sick and it doesnt get so hot in there. it might not be as stiff at the coupe or wat not but they dont keep those things stock

what makes them heavier is the roof motors, and extra mechanism's and panels that make up that a convertable... on those pro cars all of that is removed so i bet its in fact lighter than a coupe.

2nd, easier to build roll cage, fab other stuff. And if its a pro car then the chassis is stiff as fuck from all the work done so thats a moot point as well

3rd like mentioned less hot for driver, easier to get in/out prolly too. Probably more exposure if you get your helmet off and take a slow lap by the crowd.

^^ i just got back from drifing my convertable Geo Metro 8-speed RB/SR/KA/CA hybrid....its like 2035780257084432908 hp and o2u350725093298 tq...its siiick...and its left wheel drive (only the driver side wheels move the car)

*but i see it more as just wanting somethin that ppl will take notice to more
