I'm planning on running a Stacked FMIC/Radiator set up (all mounted behind Rad support) against each other. The Big Latch metal brace (welded to Rad support) that the latch mounts to is gonna be Blocking quite a bit of Flow right where everything is gonna be mounted.

SO I'm planning on Drilling the spot welds out and Removing it entirely.

Think 2 Hood pins in the front will be Ok to Hold an OEM Metal Hood down w/ no factory Locking latch??

I ran a similar setup before but instead of hoodpins I used a bar to clip on the hood and a pin at the bottom of the core support to anchor the bar, basically I cut the latch brace as you mention when I had a CF hood and went back to an OE hood, so I had to use something else to secure it. It was solid as hell, so I'm certain pins would do just the same since the OE hood doesn't flex like CF/FG/FRP and has rubber seals along it to keep air out. If you think about how simple the hood latch really is there's no reason to assume pins wouldn't be just as strong.

What does "Ok" mean?

I have no problems with hood pins on a metal hood with no factory hood latch in terms of the hood flying off at speed.

In terms of anti-theft, I would be worried about people popping your hood. You can run locking hood pins but think about accessibility when trying to put out an engine fire.

I know you're full race but you have to weigh the pros and cons.

Its fine.

That's how mine is.

Even during drifting or going 80 mph on the freeway on the trailer its fine.

BEWARE!!, i had hood pins on my stock hood, i brought it to a shop for a tune and they forgot to latch the pins. it destroyed my hood took out may window and smashed my roof. they bent back the hood and said i brought it to them looking like that. and because i didnt have any proof otherwise, i got screwed!! no money at all. just be careful, if anything does happen insurance claims adjusters will never take you seriously in a project car.

It's pretty damn stupid to not notice the pins open. You should have been there anyway for a tune and ridden with them.

Not true at all. It has to do more with your demeanors and your knowledge of the law.
