I own a Ms. Pac Man arcade machine. i keep it in the living room, along with a Pong cocktail table.

I've been looking for a new cabinet to put in the basement/garage/livingroom2. I found a few on craigslist. Today, I picked out a Jailbreak (1986, Konami) for $150. I called the guy and said i'd be by to pick it up tomorrow around noon.

just now i searched craigslist and somebody has listed a Galaxian, perfect working order, good cabinet, but no marquee, for $200. I called the number but no response. I want to buy the Galaxian for $150. if I can do that, fuck Jailbreak. A marquee is like 30 bucks on ebay, and a Galaxian for $150 would be a killer deal.

Do I back out on the Jailbreak now, hoping the guy will take my offer? Or do I wait until I hear from him? if I don't hear from him, do I just go ahead and get Jailbreak anyway?

and here's the under construction hellhole Jailbreak and Galaxian will reside (galaxian guy still hasn't called me back, but i'm getting Jailbreak around noon, set in stone).
there's a couch behind the 240. the walls look like that because we powerwashed them, and now it's too cold to dig up the outside and tar the foundation, so we're waiting until spring to get everything done and painted. i'm also picking up a slightly less shitty CRT tomorrow, and POSSIBLY a 32" trinitron console CRT. free crappy tv's rule. also the shelves on the back wall are coming down, i just built a whole mess of shelves on the other side of the basement

i'd like a mame cabinet, but then i'd suffer the same curse of playing emulators. i can never stick to one game. that's why i like real NES and Atari systems, and dedicated arcade games...
that's not to say i wouldn't mind having a few compatible PCB's laying around for funsies.

and yes, it's a great novelty. you don't play them that much after a while, but when you do it's awesome. when people come over they play the shit out of ms pac man. and i'm a big enough nerd to think it looks cool to have it sitting next to the couch.

there's two. one's a little palm tree, i don't remember what it smelled like. it's been there for like three years
the other is a coconut little tree. the 240 really smelled like shit. it's full of dirt and hair.

the first time i pulled up the back seat bottom, there was enough hair in there to build a small dog. on gutting the back, it's all very dirty. there's dirt caked everywhere, and the dirt cakes are held together with more hair. this is obviously why it always smelled worse after sitting in the sun. i can only imagine what's trapped under the carpet

as it turns out, Jail Break is a Konami Classic board. that means i can swap out the circuit board (PCB) with about 60 other Konami titles from the early 80's. on opening it up, i discovered this cabinet was originally a Track and Field, converted to Jail Break.

most notably, Rush 'N Attack and Frogger are both compatible with this cabinet. i need to get on Ebay.

dude i played the SHIT out of that one way back. that, Taxi, and the Terminator pinball... i actually have three pinball machines too, but they stay at the parents' as there's no space in this house

as far as rent goes, we're asking 200+1/3 utils for the upper floor of the house. ceiling's low in some areas but it's just your bedroom, who gives a shit :D
