if it was rebuilt maybe 700... but depends on mileage. probably $100 if its running with 150k

If you said $700 with a straight face.

I would whip it out and firehose all over your shoes.

I know it is. i'm just trying to convince my buddy he got ripped off. i wouldnt pay 700 for a dohc.

i would spend no more than 200$ on a sohc if i was in the market for one. he thinks he wasnt ripped off.

Your friend is stupid and got ripped off.

I paid $100 for my last DOHC KA, and another $125 for the KA I bought last year.

I also got another KA for free.

All twin cam's. All running perfectly fine.

What people are selling them for these days is completely retarded.

When SR's were the thing to do, everybody swapped out their KA's for them and sold them mad cheap.

They all got reffed, had to go back to stock KA's, but since they got rid of them for so cheap, people marked up the price because the demand for them is high now.

All you S13 owners are now cheap bastards.. $700 would be a decent price for a low millage engine.. some of you are just lucky to get cheapass motors lol.

Who cares if Joe Bob bought a sr20 powered car for $3k, that doesnt mean all SR powered cars should be worth $3k. Soo many dam lowballers here.. you see em all the time in the classifieds

a friend of mine paid over $1k to have a ka swapped into his s14 when he blew his without any knowledge of cars back in 02.

I gave my KA to a friend for free because for me it was pointless to keep it and tired. Doesnt mean all KAs should be free, it just depends who you get it from.

I would prefer buying cheap and rebuilding.

After all, $1,000ish for a freshly rebuilt KA with "Zero" miles would be better than a $700 KA with 100k+ miles.

Know what I mean?

Don't get me wrong, I hate lowballers as well.

An old friend of mine sold his SR'd hatch with minor things here and there for $6500. He held out and waited for the right buyer even though he had a ton of people offering him $3,000.

I personally would never buy an SR powered car because I don't like to deal with other peoples work. A lot of people do all sorts of hack jobs and short cuts. So, i'd rather not deal with that stuff.

$1k to have a KA swapped for you isn't bad considering labor isn't cheap. My gf paid $400 to have the head gasket replaced on her old Altima(KA). Yes, we *could* have paid $400 for another KA, but it was much easier to just pay for the work and have it done for us because I was too busy at the time.

But, yeah. It really does depend on who you get the motor from.

People price according to the going rate. So, I don't personally blame them, but because I know from who and where to get them for cheap, I won't pay $500+ for one.
