I remember a thread about wheel polishing but too lazy to search, so I'll start a new one. :D
Anyways, where in SOcal could I go to get the lips on my wheels polished ? Any idea how long it'll take and how much they'll charge.

Or how would I go about doing it myself and what material would I need ?

Any info would be great, thank you much

ill reply to this

ok if you wanna polish them yourself get urself sandpaper, start with a low grit and ork ur way up
now ull be sanding away for hours upon hours, then get a spiral section buffer and some **** called tripoli, buff it out to a nice ****e, then take a loose section buff and go over it with a compound called white rouge

sure its really ling and tedious, but it beats paying someone

this is what my frame looked lke after i polished it by hand, this took about 7 hours straight, now remember this was just aluminum

hey kid zelda, why don't you try PM'ing driftingpanda (danny). he polished my set of rims that had been sitting in the junkyard for who knows how long and they came out looking near perfect. there was the worst curb rash imaginable on 95% of the rims and he managed to get them out as well. he also recently did some wheel work for wpayne, so you can ask him about what he thought of danny's work. good luck!

Evil S14-looks good man, gj

Thanks, itsybitsy240sxEy (damn that name is too long)

Do you have any before and after pictures of the rims he polished for you ?

kidzelda: as itsybitsy mentioned, yes, i do lip polish, wheel face painting, and minor curb rash repair. the work is very time consuming and tedious (about 4 hours per rim), but as of now i only charge around $30 to $50 per rim, depending on the condition, style, size, and type of work desired. if your wheels are in fair shape with no bends, i could make them look practically brand new. the work takes about one full weekend to complete, i have 'loaner' sets of wheels/tires if you have nothing else to roll on. please email me for more information if you're interested!

itsybitsy240sxey, wpayne, dousan36, and adey are just a few people who have seen my work in person, if you pm them i'm sure they can vouch for me.

here's a picture of my enkie mesh, before and after rash repair and polish. email me if you'd like to see bigger pictures or other examples.

thanks!
danny

Cool ! nice to hear all the praise

Ok, but compared to itsybitsy240sxEy’s rim pictures, mine currently look like her after's, hehehe.
SO I guess I need more of a touch-up polishing, it wouldn't be that much work for you, so maybe we can work on pricing.

Here, let me show you what you're up against

ohhh no no no. those gold enkei's aren't mine. they're danny's play rims. mine are silver riken mesh and were in MUCH worse condition. your wheels are pretty!! what's the offset on those babies?

well, i'm about to do some polishing/repairing on my bbs meshers. whats some advice...??? i'm basicly gonna screw up my rims unless i get some pointers from you guys?

driftingpanda
02-19-2003, 01:07 PM
nismo240sx: lip repair or just polishing? if you would like, feel free to email me some pictures and i'll give you some pointers! i would still recommend that you have an experienced person do it, or at least get a junk yard wheel to practice on before you start working on them bbs's. when doing curb rash lip repair, you're actually taking off a lot material, so it's very easy to mess it up if you don't have the right intuition. anyway, let me know and good luck!
