History:
I purchased the car in December 2002 from the second owner with about 100k miles on the odometer. The car has been used primarily as a daily-driver for my 15 mile commute to/from work over the last 6 years, less so in the last 1.5 years as it's been a 2nd car for me. In general, the car has a had a good life and been well-maintained under my ownership.
The overall cosmetic condition of the car is "clean". The paint still looks good, and the interior is extremely well-preserved for a car of this age and mileage (dark tint on the windows has minimized any fade). The OEM wheels are still a bright satin color with minimal tarnishing, and the headlights are still very "clear" and not yellowish like is seen on so many of these cars.
The car had a clean CARFAX when I purchased it (as it does currently -- see pic at the bottom). However, after a couple of months of ownership, I realized it showed signs of having been in a minor front end collision and being repainted in places (front bumper bracket, maybe hood?). While I owned the car, it was involved in one very minor rear-end impact where an SUV took out the passenger side taillight and dented the rear bumper cover. The impact also pushed me into the tow hook of the truck in front of me, punching a hole in the front bumper cover. Taillights, front and rear bumper covers were replaced and painted by Regal Nissan in Roswell, using all OEM parts. This was in July 2006 @ 157k mi.
As OEM wear items have worn, I've replaced some of them with aftermarket parts with improved performance/adjustablility. All work and maintenance on the car has been done by me, with the occasional help/supervision of local 240 guru Russ G ("RDM" on the forums). The car is currently equipped as follows:
Tokico "Blue" shocks
Eibach Pro-Kit springs
Suspension Techniques sway bars
Kazama tension rods
Tein tie-rod ends
SPL steering rack bushings (Nismo/ES hybrid)
Moog front lower control arm ball joints
Energy Suspension front lower control arm bushings
300ZX (Z32) 4-piston front calipers
300ZX (Z32) 2-piston rear calipers
300ZX (Z32) OEM master cylinder (remanufactured)
Skyline (R32) e-brake assembly
Brembo OEM rotors (F/R)
SPL stainless steel lines (F/R)
SPL speed-bleeder valves
Axxis Metal Master brake pads (F/R)
ATE Super-Blue brake fluid
New NGK spark plug wires (12/2007)
New OEM distributor cap (12/2007)
New OEM distributor rotor (12/2007)
New Bosch O2 sensor (12/2007)
New OEM plugs (12/2007)
New Sears DieHard battery (2/2008)
** Engine is stock KA **
RS*R Ex-Mag Exhaust (3" cat-back)
Dual electric fans (Altima)
Additional Notes:
On the negative side, the car is currently lacking rear speakers and a head unit (my previous one died and I've yet to replace it). My thought was that the new owner would probably want to put their own stuff in there and there was no sense in me buying a new system if it was just going to get scrapped by the new owner. Additionally, the car currently gives ECM code 21 - "ignition circuit", but it's perfectly drivable. The symptom of this issue is an intermittent "hiccup" (for lack of a better word) in throttle response. I've yet to track this down, but I believe it's something in the distibutor that's faulty. I've been driving it like this the last year without issue though; it's a minor annoyance and won't affect emissions.
I'm selling the car because I have baby #2 on the way and I don't have the time, money, and other resources to devote to using and maintaining the 240 anymore. I have thoroughly enjoyed this car and it would make an excellent choice for anyone looking for an economical daily driver, a track car, or a project car.
Please email me with any questions. I'm posting exterior shots of the car for now because I haven't taken any of the inside yet. I will try and get some interior pics up as well ASAP. Thank you for looking.
