View Full Version : Low offsets and larger wheels

Currently I have some 15" mesh with a 0 ET on my S13, but I am planning on upgrading to some 17's and giving the meshes to my brother for his Cressida. I am looking into some 5Zigen FN-01R's specifically, but I notice that people do different front and rear offset combo's with the larger diameter wheels. I know, this sounds like a noob question, but what is a good front and rear offset combo? Or, is it good to have both front and rear in a low offset? Is it just a matter of preference, function, or both? For example, a) 17 x 8 with +25 front/17 x 9 with + 15 rear OR just get the latter for front and rear?

Nah, I planned on doing a 5 lug conversion to do the larger wheels. I am thinking 17 x 9 +15 all the way around. Only thing I am concerned about is I am not running coilovers, just a spring/shock combo. I am worried the car would look funny if I'm not able to get more flushness by lowering a little more. I posted about this in the wheel fitment whore thread just a minute ago.

it should be fine. just know what tire size to get. my freinds car just has drop springs and he got too big of tire so it sticks out of the fender beaner status. (i'm not racist. I myself am mexican.

Better edit that. Still a racial slur. Black people can't say the N-word round here either, and so forth.

Probably some 245/35 or 235/40 for the rear and some 225/40 or 45 for the front. Probably will have to roll and pull the rear fenders.

Don't get 245/35 for the rear
I would recommend 215/45/17 all around if you just daily drive
If not then maybe 215/45/17 F + 235/40/17 R
17 x 8 +25 front / 17 x 9 +15 rear isn't really a matching setup...fronts would be inward, rears would be outward
If you ran something like a 17x8+25 front, to achieve a matching look rear you'd probably want a 17x9+25
17x9+15 all around is pretty much standard aggressive beginning fitment for S13/14, combo it with a 215/45/17 and you just need to roll fender (no pull) with lower and camber
If you are gonna be on just shock/spring combo, I'd probably recommend something like a 17x8/9 setup with more conservative offsets like the 20's
Cause if you throw a 17x9+15 all around on shocks/springs, I think it'd probably be harder to achieve a proper look
This has been covered many times though, so go through that wheel fitment thread and/or search around

I have 5Chickens on mine and run 17x8 +25 and 17x9 +35 for auto-xing and track. I run 225/45 all round. I have pics posted in the wheel fitmetn thread, white S14 with bronze chickens...

+1 on Logan's advice.
I personally used to run 215/45/17's all around on my old FN's(17x9 +20).
Fitment wasn't "flush" with wheel fitment whore standards, but it was good.
