hey zivilians, my transmission has been acting up on me. before it was fine except when i put it in 3rd gear, there would be a lil grinding but not a lot. now, whenever i start my car in the morning, i cant seem to put the car into any gears, i would have to warm up my car for a really long time and force the gears in, after that it will be fine. makes a loud clunk too. if anyone has the same problem and found some ways to fix it, i'd like to hear it. thanks for your time. oh yea, i have a 1990 s13 with redtop sr20 if that helps. my power steering fluid was leaking for awhile but i poured in the fluid and will be fixing that soon. i hope i don't have to buy a brand new transmission, i'm on a really tight budget. :wtc:

Manual or Auto?
It sounds like you have a problem with your clutch pressure plate. your clutch is not properly disengaging. check your hydraulics.

thanks for the reply redsx13 and gotspins13, it is a manual 5 spd. i took it to a shop to get the tranny fluid flush and the guy recommended me to change my slave and master cylinder for the clutch. the problem isn't there anymore since the weather got hotter, i notice it only happens in the morning when its cold  anyways its fine for now, but eventually a new tranny has got to be put in there (3rd gear grinds)
ps. anyone know a good tuning shop in southern cali? i have s15 t28 w/ z32 maf and 550 injectors. should i run power fc or aem ems?
thanks!

Are you bypassing the dampner or using it still...if so you probably have air in it. I got rid of mine after hearing horror stories of trying to bleed one.
good luck.

where is the dampener located at and how do you bypass it? do you think the dampener is the problem for my tranny or the pressure plate? not sure

You had to deal with it when you bled the system...if you did not deal with it, then it can very well be your problem.
Air in the clutch line would make shifting problematic.

haha this shit is a bitch!! i have to move my car in the morning for my pops and i have the same problem.. i can't shift into gear without forcing it soo i have to put the car in reverse before turning it on and turn my car off and throw it in first to get back in the driveway.. I absolutly hate cold mornings... specially when you were studying all night the night before and someone wakes you up 2 hours later to move a car that won't cooperate with you. I wouldn't have to do this if people don't steal s-chassis!!! :(

i dont have a problem about the feeling of the clutch. my only problem is that it wont go into gears after turning the car on. after 20-30mins with the car on, thats when i can put in gears.
