That trailer looked fun, but other trailer of the same film showed some horrible alien invasion, including some space ship straight from Star Trek shooting laser beams. Looks more like a rehash of independence day to me. Almost all of the original actors from that are in 2012 too. It might turn out to be a good movie, but it has the potential also to be a terrible film.

also, the alien ship reminds me of banshees from Halo, one of the scenes looks like it was directly from war of the worlds, another ship look like it was stolen off of stargate sg-1, etc.

I dont know if that 2nd trailer is real, but it looks like the movie is going to be about our "binary star system or another planet (planet x they're not sure if its a planet or a sun)" that we've found out recently. It's calculated that it will be within our universe in 2012 and the closer it gets the more fucked up the gravitation is for all the planets kinda like a bubble with bubbles inside and some bubble is trying to get inside our bubble of bubbles. I think that's why all these weird ass movies start showing up and they throw in aliens and crap because of ancient text talking about this planet or sun comming into our universe. Like Sumerian(like egyptions but in a different reigon) text call the planet "nibiru" and aliens are supposed to be on it. Also supposedly some old african tribe "the dogon tribe" (africans that fled from egypt before it got fucked up carried ancient knowledge from ancient ancient egypt and passed it on generation to generation theyre still alive and their whole purpose of living is to keep the knowledge) exactly calculate the star Sirius and describe their universe and beings on it. These people are clothed in banana leaves and have no knowledge of the outside world can't speak any language but their own, yet they have knowledge of extreme astronomy. It's not like the ancient human civilization predicts our weather everyday but when their astronomy is EXACTLY identical to our barley understandings then it would be only perfect for hollywood to make money off this shit. Like Indiana Jones, 10,000bc, the day the earth stood still(with all the new stuff from the original), Im pretty sure there's others with exact ideas and it looks like 2012 is exactly about it. All of these ancient astronomical finds were just thought of as dumb and naive until modern astronomy started to tie in exactly with what they were saying which is somewhat recent...

You're absolutely correct. Good eye. Day after Tommorow & War, Independence Day, & of the Worlds was obvious. Apocolypto was in the beginning, as was 'I am Legend' with the crowd scene. I knew I saw Tom Cruise somewhere, but I don't think he was mentioned in the fake credits.
Good job on spotting the other stuff.

Looking back, most of those films were truly god-awful.
