I have a mixture of brand new and used black (i mean dark charcoal) interior pieces and I want to refinish the old shit to match the new. I know for a fact that Duplicolor = fail in the paint matching department (the best they have is satin black). I'm looking to SEM paints, but locally, no one carries it and it's hard to match paint from a computer screen. Can anyone relate or is all of Zilvia gutted and hopped up on tire smoke?:rimshot:

ANVIL hit it right on, Landau Black from SEM. Perfect match without any gloss. They also have a low luster clear as well if you want to add some sheen without having it look like it's dripping in ArmorAll.

Yeah, last week I ordered some Landau and Ford Midnight black dye. If it ain't right, I'll mix them and see what I get and i'll post the results.

Well, I said I'd post results so here goes...

Started today with a collection of ebay, jdm and junkyard s13 interior parts

I prepped all the plastic interior pieces by scrubbing them with SEM brand soap to remove all contaminants such as wax, oil dirt, poop, etc... I flattened the wee' scratches with 600 grit sandpaper.

After that, I rinsed the parts with water and then further cleaned and dried them with denatured alcohol.

I wasn't sure what color matches s13 charcoal so I ordered satin black and graphite SEM online (we had none locally)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v726/JewGal/Picture055.jpg

After a test spray, I realized graphite was a lil too light when compared with the stock pieces (The corresponding image really doesn't show the deference as well as in person)

So I punchered the satin and graphite cans, after spraying out as much propellant as I could, with the can upside down (the sh*t still squirted me:crazyrant)

Contents poured into a Preval aerosol spray gun

The concoction yielded great results

Not an exact match, but it looks better than doing it all satin black (IMO).

BTW, SEM's "Midnight Black" dye is a great product to use on our vinyl pieces. I tested it on my dash and it looks incredible. Pics in a later update.

The Landau Black I mentioned is a perfect OE match. I've used it one numerous brown and blue S13 dashes and green S14 dashes for resale as well as refinishing all my own interior parts after custom fitting gauges/controls.

IMO, Landau black is a perfect OE match for the S14's black interior and Midnight black is closer to the S13's charcoal.
