If i were to get a skyline engine would it fit in the 1993 240sx and how much approx would it cost?

why spend the extra money and work on doing a skyline engine when the sr20det will go in easy and is a very capable engine
Don't get a skyline engine unless your main thing is drag racing. It would weigh way too much for your car and you would lose the 240's great cornering abilities. Just get an SR.

Unless you really want a novelty car, go with the SR. Weather or not it throws off the handling or not the SR is deffinately lighter easier swap etc. Depending on what year SR you want, and unless you do it your self I've heard prices from $3000-$8000 installed, the $8k being the S15 SR20. Too rich for my blood.

The SR20DET is aluminum block and head and is smaller than the KA24DE engine, so you'll get weight reduction there (KA24DE is 2.4 and is iron block, aluminum head). The RB26DETT (If this is the one you're looking at) is also iron block, aluminum head, and is also bigger than the KA and is also a TT. Lots more weight. Most people would suggest doing an SR swap, and I'm doing the same. If you like low-end power, than work your KA.

It my be worth it because the skyline engine is ealie tunable and you can get alot out of them

You can get a lot of power out of your KA too. There's a lot more parts availability, it's the same head/block material construction, only without the two turbines.
It's a lot heavier and you will not like it for anything but straight-line.
SR20DET also has a large part availability, but not quite as large as the KA24DE.

ok, whenever somebody mentions a skyline engine, i think we need to specify which one it is. cuz the automatic reaction is always they're 2 heavy or whatever, which isn't always the case all the time.

the main question is how fast you want to go? do yo want to beat out a corvette, even the new one at the light or quarter mile, well the ka24 can do it for ya for less than a swap, and so can the sr20. look at duy's car and other cars online with the ka24, they post some impressive numbers with not alot, and only stock internals of the ka24. i am also thinking about a swap also, but it would either be a vg30dett, or [dont flame me for this] a 2jz-gte from a supra. but the ka24 does have its advantages over these motors, and when just moded internally with a turbo it can give ya some real nice speed, be easy to work on, and be cheap for replacement parts!

First and foremost, I'm not a dude, and anyone will tell you you can get more parts for the KA24DE than the SR20DET. Reason: SR20DET is a JDM engine while KA24DE is a USDM engine.

Then you realize... you still in america!

What's so hard to comprehend about her statement? Weather it's aftermarket or OEM parts you can still find them for a SR. If you are that incompetent that you can't find the parts you want then you should'nt have a non US market engine in your car in the first place. I don't consider the aftermarket for the KA large by anymeans and I think there's a bigger aftermarket for the SR.

If you have the money to drop an RB-26DET into a 240sx. Instead add a turbo, intercooler, reprogrammed ecu and other stuff.

Replacement parts are way easy to get for a KA, I can go to Pep boys and get a gang of shit.
Just like in Japan, u can go to "pep boys" (whatever its called there) and get a gang of shit for an SR.
If it was sold in the states, then there is a supply replacement parts.
See, aftermarket parts is a different story, not many companys make stuff for the KA24E(DE)
The SR gets a ton of aftermarket parts.
So......did I leave anything out
