So I'm looking for a decent laptop around the 1500 price range.
I have no clue about laptops, so fill me in.
Just to use for school, movies, and maybe some games?
Help me out here.

I got an HP notebook.

-3 gigs of RAM
-250 gig HD space
-Wi-Fi connectivity
-Wide-screen display
-Keyboard includes num pad

I'm extremely satisfied. And the best part is it only cost me ~ half of what your price range is. Tax free, too. (Thank you very much AAFES!)

Are there better laptops out there? Of course.

But for the price the HP met my needs better than any other model out there.

In fact, when I was shopping for laptops there were several other brands out there that didn't have half the stuff that my HP has. And they were more expensive.

But, I only use my laptop for music, movies, internet, and schoolwork.

For games and anything really graphically intensive, I still use my desktop.

Good luck on your search.

No, 1500 is the max I'm willing to spend.

what size screen are you looking to get? newegg.com is the best place to look. Macbook's are nice, but if you're somewhat old and want something in the 16in screen wise, those are like 2k, only the 13.3in are in his price range, i'd suggest something else.

I would advise you get an HP they've recently teamed with super-computer maker; Voodoo. I would say their quality has jumped by leaps and bounds. Don't hop on the mac train, they're overpriced and the equivalent to Mac software can easily be found on the interwebs. I used to build computers btw. The computer I built sits right behind me a relic of its time. I teach people about it.

Another company to look into:
iBUYPOWER: High Performance Custom Gaming Computers and Notebooks (http://ibuypower.com/) < a friend recently got one, amazing quality and inexpensive too!

Just stay away from Intel and Mac and you should be in good shape. :)

We're on a drifting forum, of course the majority will like Apple.

I think my friend summed it up best:
22:16 < Quack[wurk]> zilvia: "my car is so mad tyte, it's 3cm from the ground"
"is it drivable?" "no, but it's baller as fuck. check out

Reformat to XP or OsX86 if you like Macs so much. :fawk:

Hackintosh > spending tons of money on an Apple laptop... but if you have the time/knowledge to do that you're probably not going to be the kind of person running OsX anway.

Wow, I'm surprised at how many Mac people have posted on this "Mac vs PC" thread. Usually the windows guys have a higher post count. Unfortunately they all end up the same way...
I myself have an iMac that I'm very satisfied with. If you're willing to come out of your PC shell, Macbook would be the way to go.
If you see a black S14 with an Apple sticker on the window, that'd be me...

I'm sure Apple makes a fine product. But, at least in my case, I found Apple's UI to be cumbersome and non-intuitive. That's probably due to almost exclusively using Windows based computers for the last 15 years.

Apple's products look sleek and sexy, I'll give them that.

But just like the iPod and iTunes, sometimes I'm seriously frustrated with Apple's design decisions.

I don't know; To each their own, I guess.

I was looking at the new macbook pro, i honestly really like it. The only thing i did not like was the price. A little too high for my budget. I'm starting to consider the hp hdx 18t. Starts at around 1399.

i almost got that one(the HP), but Dell had no interest for 9 months and HP had no interest for 30 days. so i picked the Dell.

I also saw that, but i plan on getting the hp from bestbuy. Sure they might charge more but they have 18 months no interest. So i think that would be the best bet for me. But first things first, i have to find one in stock. Every store i checked is out of stock. =[
