bud this has been talked about so many times, you just give any cop a hard on when they see your car lowered wth a modded muffler, only reason scion tc dont get stopped and poped for modified muffler.

anyone have one in socal?

they are not legal and it's really bad how many companies tout thier parts as CARB and OEM legal when there is really no such thing, still I always talk with people about this. People get pulled over and were still ticketed even though they had a "CARB" exemption

+1, just get a stock air box and gut it out open it up more then what the stock one has for air flow.

well you're one of the lucky ones. I had a carb legal one, gave me a ticket anyways and was sent to the ref. My exhaust was quiet as hell to and i told him that it was below 90 decibals, know what he did? Gave me a ticket anyways and threatened to take me to jail because i was "back talking"

Then what's this all about?

My local ref station said my AEM intake, DC Sports header, and Up Garage catback were all legal.

Now, its your word against a Ref station's word.

Yeah, I think i'll go with his.

For those who still get ticketed, carry around proof to show your parts are legal.

Don't just "say" they're legal. Show them.

If they still give you a ticket, take their asses to court and show the judge the proof.

aside from that, nice start up an arguement with a cop who will write you up for more stuff, I just sit in the seat dont admit or deny anything and be a polite as possibile might just get off with a warning. If he has a bug up his arse and has to write me a ticket so be it, just argueing with a cop once you get pulled over is just as good shooting anyone's self in the foot.

True, have heard from people they got pulled still ticketed , but its a different story per each person.

+2 but still best not to argue when you get pulled over you just make a cop put a post it note next to your ticket should you contest it, and if the parts are legal then there is nothing to worry about it and it will get dismissed.

Don't just "say" they're legal. Show them.

If they still give you a ticket, take their asses to court and show the judge the proof.
Yes, but for love of god just dont argue with a cop about that, who what when and how just be honest and polite and not condesending. When you have a corut date just present all of the info and show you're right he was wrong. :whip:

Yea i agree with you guys but some cops are just total douchebags, or i'm just unlucky. I had the carb sticker and the paper work but the cop told me that ANY aftermarket exhaust is illegal because thats not how it came from the factory. I stopped arguing with him because i saw he was a total idiot. Also he gave me a ticket for being to low without even getting the ruler out and measuring my headlights. Took him to court for that. If you must have modifications, paint it all black or something. Shiny things are just bad anywhere on your car. THis was all in sacramento and it was a Sac State cop. Worst of all.

Definitely agree with you as well.

The second time I was pulled over(3 times total), I made the mistake of turning in front of a stopped bus as it was loading passengers. I was in a rush to get to work, but there was no excuse for what I did.

Cop spots me, flashes his lights, and pulls me over.

First thing he says, "Do you know why I pulled you over?"

It was pretty obvious, so I told him exactly why and he agreed.

I politely answered all of his questions, showed him my license, registration, and allowed him to search my car(it was 5:30am aka still dark out).

He told me since I was so polite the entire time and even admitted to my wrong doing, to just be careful next time.

Right before leaving, his last comment was "Nice car."

Yes, it does depend on what type of cop pulls you over, but if he questions your parts(if they're legal or not), simply let him know that you have proof to show the said parts are in fact legal. Don't turn it into an argument.

Be as polite as possible.
