I saw it tonight with some friends after the family activities.
I thought it was alright. Kinda slow, and not much action. Lots of talking though. I think I fell asleep for 10-20 minutes. haha. I guess it's just not my type of movie.
Did anyone else see it? And what was your views on it?

I watched it yesterday with the gf.
I expected a ton more action, but what can you expect out of a 40's themed movie.
I felt like I was in my World History class all over again(which was one of my fav. classes).
Overall, good movie.

I think Tom Cruise is possibly the only actor alive who can make it kinda hard to root for someone who is trying to kill Hitler...

i agree, i think the movie would have been better with someone else in that role.

what kinda action were you guys expecting....even tom cruise himself said "this is not a war movie, this is a drama that takes place during a war"

if you dont follow the Nazi history you wont really understand the movie. If you dont read much about it in the books you wont know who is who is involved and the photos of the real men they portrayed. Likewise will make you disinterested and fall asleep. Tom Cruise is the closest one to match Stauffenberg's profile. I think he did great in this movie and so as the movie itself this Holiday season.

DUDE. I felt the same way. Like it's the kind of movie you would watch in a history class. haha.

I was expecting car chases and explosions and shootouts and fight scenes out of a Jason Bourne movie. LOL> jk'ing...

Like said above. Did you follow WWII very closely? If not, IDK, maybe you should pass.

hahah i was planin to see this tomarrow, i might still because like lisa, im also interested in WWII stuff *i find it interesting*.
But i do feel like the trailers and previews would make you believe its going to be an action movie lol esp with tom cruise in it, i was thinking "dam he better not be doin some mission impossible shit or tryin to always act like a badass lol"... think they where trying to push it like that to make people want to see it. But as long as its fairly accurate it might be cool to check out.

I saw the 'sneak preview' about a month ago (movie test marketing, I guess)...and liked it.
Much more of a documentary than an action movie.
Well worth seeing, if you know what to expect...and bear in mind, it's historical...so you know how it's going to turn out...hehe.

I liked it a lot.
It kinda sucked because parts were so intense (when Tom Cruise was 'getting changed') and you want them to win so bad... but you know they dont.
Side Note: Does anyone else think prop fighter planes in WWII are 100000x cooler then modern fighter jets?

Who honestly didn't know what the ending was going to be? lol
I have yet to see it, but just common sense and some of history will tell ya. I thought it would of been better, but I went and saw Bedtime Stories with a girlie of mine.
It was surprisingly funny and good for a Hitler err Disney flick.
P51 D Mustangs ftw
J38 Lightnings
and the blackcats..tomcats? dont remember. I used to be a HUGE WW2 plane buff when I was younger.

I dunno, I loved it. Granted, I knew what was going down all the time, being familiar with the story. I thought it was very well done, and they did a great job directing the audiences feelings. Like, I was watching it, and found myself hoping that that motherfucker wouldn't move the briefcase, hahahahaha.

what the hell is wrong with you grand pa's??!??!?! lol paying 12$ to see a movie and falling asleep?!?!
i loved the movie, i was it last night and it was really good imo. i dont care what anyone says TOM IS THE MAN!!!! dispite all the crazy scientology stuff i think he is an awsome actor!!!!!!!! and thats why i pay money to see him, not because he thinks we came from a single cell organism riding a commet that crashed into the earth or whatever.

as someone who didn't/doesn't follow WWII History i was kind of lost. But it was a good movie and if you pay attn. you pick up quick on things.
overal it was a good movie, i wouldn't go out to a theater and see it again but i'd watch it once it comes out on dvd.

Yeah, I know. I was really trying to pay attention. But the harder I paid attention, the easier it was to fall asleep. haha. I guess this just wasn't my type of movie. I really like Tom Cruise as an actor as well. That's why I went out to see this movie.

I was hella tired, I got like 4 hours of sleep thanks to the girlfriend... :coold:
Then I worked for 7 hours then ate a ton of naan and curry (SUPER SLEEPY TIME FOOD)
Then watched the movie at like 10:30... that's a formula for the sleepies if I ever heard one.

movie was great. my only gripe is that tom cruise can't pull off noble german aristocrat. he just pulls off tom cruise in serious tom cruise mode. same exact acting you see in all other serious tom cruise drama movies.

The movie would've been better if it was done entirely in German with English subtitles.
Or at least if they had German accents.
Because I mean if they are going to have English accents, there really isn't any reason to say mein führer...
But I guess that's nit picking.
I liked the movie.
I DIDN'T fall asleep, unlike team excuses.
After watching this, it makes me want to see Downfall.

i believe they filmed some of the movie with everyone having german accents. it was so bad they had to do it again haha.
I was an extra in the very opening bit, the desert scene. But i was wayyyy in the back and couldnt spot myself. :(

Arnold Schwarzeneger should have dubbed the entirety of the movie in German accent. LOL!
The movie should have rehired Bruno Ganz ("Downfall" movie) to re play Hitler since he is the closest Hitler look a like living in the world! Go see downfall. The best german made war movies in my opinion are Downfall, Das Boot and Stalingrad. Shttp://zilvia.net/f/images/zilvia/buttons/edit.gif (http://zilvia.net/f/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=2538715)EE it!

Trailers are always like that. For instance, alot of comedy movies seem funny as hell from the previews because they put the best parts in the previews, then when you go see the actual movie, youve already seen the best part like 20 times on tv, so its not that great.

Austrians speak German.
Tom Cruise should listen to the saying "Quit while you're ahead," and in my opinion he should've quit making movies about a decade ago. And why would Hollywood make a movie about Claus von Strauffenberg? In my opinion the only one who should make a movie about him would be the Germans, or someone from that general vicinity. This movie would be about the equivalent to let's say a Brazilian studio coming over here to film a movie about Martin Luther King. It felt totally impersonal.

That was my only problem with it. Its kind of hard to see hitler speaking english with little to no accent. It is nit picking but still something I would like to see for the DVD release.
