when i add more sound deadening (fat mat), should i peel off the OEM stuff or just roll the new stuff right on top of it? which would be the best solution?

take out the tar stuff out and roll the new one in less weight!

i'm shooting for less resonance, not less weight... i'm just wondering if there'd be an advantage to securing the new stuff directly to metal instead of over other sound deadener

do it over if you are trying to keep the car quiet. but let me give you my experience.
i bought $500 worth of dynamat (over $1000 retail) to make my car quieter. the car overall really wasnt that much quieter, but ill tell you not a damn thing shook in it! looking back at that old car, it just wasnt worth the extra 100+ lbs. oh, and i removed the OEM sound deadening.
here's some motivation tho. get ready got lots of finger cuts haha.
