I'll be nice then. If anyone is going to help you, you're going to have to describe your problem.

Just so you know, the biggest pet peev for anyone around here is people asking questions without doing some searching first.

Try looking around here http://zilvia.net/f/engine-tech/ for your answers.

ok..white smoke from exhaust, shaky...very shaky. still misfires after replacing a fuel injector

do a compression test to see if its a hg first then go from there

cc4usmc
12-22-2008, 11:20 PM
Is it overheating? What else have you done to fix the problem? I'm assuming it's a ka, right?

Ok, now check your oil. Is it milky or very thin? Pop the radiator cap when it's cold, does it smell like exhaust or have any oil floating?

if so, headgasket.

initial_drifter
12-22-2008, 11:28 PM
well an easy but messy way to tell if it's your headgasket would be to take off your radiator cap and have someone crank or start the motor

If it's blown you'll see the coolant gushing out

Drifter_Angel240
12-22-2008, 11:28 PM
i just had an oil change..i need to replace the fuel filter. i was thinking the mass air flow sensor or the coil

Drifter_Angel240
12-22-2008, 11:29 PM
hmmm i'll try that thanks :)

chibo
12-22-2008, 11:30 PM
If it's a small leak then you will see a constant stream of bubbles rising in the radiator neck while running.

A big leak will have coolant pouring out the exhaust pipe. What does the exhaust smell like, white smoke can be a stuck injector - you said you've replaced 'an injector', not all 4.

sirfallsalot243
12-22-2008, 11:31 PM
White smoke from the exhaust indicates that its burning coolant. Your first step should be a compression test. A blown head gasket would be a likely candidate for your car's symptoms, and a compression test would basically confirm it.

Drifter_Angel240
12-22-2008, 11:36 PM
the smoke smells rich like oil or gas, i replaced all the plugs and the first fuel injector..i'll do a compression test and replace the plug and injector wires. see what happens.

chibo
12-22-2008, 11:38 PM
Since you replaced one, what was wrong with it? Can you swap a known good one out with each of the 4 to test? You could also unplug one injector at a time and seeing if the smoke goes away.Be aware that it's possible to hydrolock an engine with a stuck injector. If it is an injector, make sure you change the oil after you solve the issue. A stuck injector can wash the walls of the cylinder down, allowing gas into the oil.

just pull ur dipstick out and check to see the color of the oil if it looks like coffe mixed with milk (or coffemate) its ur Headgasket....let us know we aint all dicks and are willing to help u out...

From everything that you've described, it sounds like you have a small headgasket leak. As stated before, get a compression test done AS SOON as possible. The more that you drive the car, the worse the condition gets, and soon you could be burning oil like mad, and then have to replace the head because of it being warped.
On a sidenote, if your really dont care about the engine, you could just drive it until it dies, and save for a replacement.

lol zilvia isnt known for being nice....but seriously. they have a little tool out there to check your block. basically it's like a baster (sp?) it comes with a blue fluid. you fill with fluid to line made on apparatus, place the baster thing in the radiator through the fill hole, turn on the car, wait untill the thermostat opens....right when it opens you squeeze bulb on baster thing and let it suck in the fumes from the radiator. if it changes color to yellowish-greenish you blew your headgasket, if it stays blue you have a problem somwhere else. then you can go from there. trouble shooting cars can be a pain sometimes.

Not always. Head gaskets don't have to blow between an oil passage and water jacket.

And you are? No need to knock her for coming on here. There are a LOT of girls on this forum. Someone asked, and she answered. Simple as that, get over yourself...you are only 19 and I am sure that there is a lot you do not know about the vehicle as well. She is asking for help, albeit a little vague, she is still asking.

Sounds like u could have ripped an injector seal putting the injector in that happened to me the first time i replaced my injectors u can get the seals at your local parts store, you get two seals for a couple of dollars just remember use lots of lube and go slow.

your telling a girl with a s13 to go buy a car with a overheating heating problem. watercooled bugs are notorious for overheating. their bigger pieces of crap than 1990 z32's

mad shake huh hm..i remember when i had an earthquake shake in my car and it sounded like a subi. :)

for the white smoke you got check :
1.white smoke could be condensation/blownhead gasket
2.check engine oil for a chocolate color in radiator, dip stick if so then its a blown headgasket
3.look where the head meets the block for a leak of some sort

for the shake:
1:take out spark plugs and smell the tip of it.. if it smell like a gas station than most likely when you installed your injectors which corresponds with that spark plug you ripped the o-ring during installation
2:you sure your firing check to see if you have spark
remove fuel pump fuse, start car til it dies, then pull the spark plug wire not on the distributer but on head have a friend crank car like 5 times as you hold the plug connector on one of the head bolts...see a spark??
3:your injectors gettin a signal from ecu you gonna have to get a special tool for this its like a light blub that connect to the injector connector it will light up each time it gets the signal from ecu i believe if it lights up than your injectors should be injectin fuel (i dont know the official name of this tool anyone know what it is called for future reference??)

try all of these im pretty sure one of these will fix your problem pm me if you still need more information hopin you fix it whats a 240 if it isnt runnin right!! GL :)

300zx1990tt= idiot one day youll need help and when you do imma straight clown on you swear like your god's gift to cars and probally think you know everything !! lol wow immature status!!

you could very easily perform this test with a voltmeter, no need for fancy tools.

its probable that it'd be a head gasket. white smoke is usually a headgasket. also does the exh smell at all like eggs?

zaquanh
12-26-2008, 12:35 PM
why dont i evver hear anything about a leak down test, it should infact tell you if you head gasket is blown and a compresion test should work too

soreballz
12-26-2008, 05:22 PM
also does the exh smell at all like eggs?
Not sure where you're going with that, but a rotten egg smell typically indicates a bad catalytic converter, not a blown headgasket.

smelly240
12-26-2008, 05:54 PM
stinky egg smell can be caused by coolant in the cat, or high sulfur fuel (both times i seen a HG be blown on a stock car - it stunk like eggs... perhaps it was the fuel they used)??
