Video On Demand | WFAA.com (http://www.wfaa.com/video/index.html?nvid=315740)

Jorge Lopez was murdered today by some asshole in a pickup truck. The link has a news link in it and news video.

He was a really helpful nice guy. And an excellant driver.

If your from Texas you may have seen him at Mineral Wells with the rest of the team he was with Drift_Mode.

He drove a purple hatchback with a wangan wing.

May he rest in peace.

UPDATE

Well everyone thanks to AznDrftr. (http://zilvia.net/f/members/azndrftr-.html) He has started a donation paypal on his forum. So everyone that would like to donate to Jorge's family please go there. Thanks everyone for the strong support and this is one of the main reasons why I am proud to be a Zilvia member

I read this on another forum and was checking to see if it had been posted here as well other forums. It's never easy to accept a comrades' death, regardless of affiliations.

It's a damn shame.

Here's some pictures of his car he had posted:

This is straght off "Criminal Minds" and aired last week... some sick shit killed his family then drove around killing people on the Freeway with a pump shotgun... didn't catch him untill he flipped out.

This is tragic... I honestly can't express in words!!

I will gladly donate funds to the family.

CONCLUSION TO THE SHOOTING
(CBS/AP) A man suspected in a series of rush hour shootings near Dallas on Monday is a former Utah state trooper wanted on burglary and robbery warrants who apparently shot himself after a standoff with police, authorities said late Tuesday.

Brian Smith, 37, killed at least one of the victims of Monday's shootings, Dallas police Lt. Craig Miller said. Investigators tied Smith to a killing in Dallas because by matching the bullets found at the standoff, he said.

Officer Joe Harn, a spokesman for the Garland Police Department, said Smith held officers at bay for several hours Monday night, reports CBS Station KTVT. After about three hours, Smith apparently shot himself. He's in critical condition at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Harn said.

"At this time we don't feel there is a threat, and people don't need to be concerned about being on the freeways," said Dallas Police Lt. Craig Miller. "It is safe to be out and about doing your Christmas shopping."

Dallas police declined to comment on a second death in neighboring Garland, where the standoff took place, because it was out of their jurisdiction.

Harn said his department has not been able to make a definitive connection between Smith and the killing there, but acknowledged that he fit the description of the highway shooter: a balding, 40ish white man.

"We certainly hope it is him," Harn said. "But we are going to have to see more concrete evidence."

Two people were shot and killed and another person was injured by broken glass in four shootings along or near a Dallas-area highway Monday evening. Police believe the victims were selected at random.

Smith had been a Utah state trooper since 1996 but retired in May because of "personal issues," said Sgt. Jeff Nigbur, a spokesman for the Utah Department of Public Safety.

The crime spree appears to have begun in Garland, where a man police identified as Smith jumped over a pharmacy counter at a grocery store and stole Oxycontin pills.

Minutes later, the first shooting happened in Garland when a driver pulled up alongside a small Nissan stopped at a red light and began shooting, Harn said. The Nissan's driver, 20-year-old Jorge "George" Lopez of Rowlett, was killed.

Minutes later on the same highway, a gunman shot and killed 42-year-old William Scott Miller, the driver of a United Van Lines rig, police Lt. Craig Miller said. Police said the driver, who was about to fly home to his wife and two young daughters in Frankfort, Ky., for the holidays, was able to bring his truck safely to a stop before he died.

"The act he did in and of itself I consider to be heroic," Lt. Miller said. "Despite being mortally wounded, he was able to control his rig to the point where other drivers weren't injured."

After the shooting of Miller, another semitrailer was fired upon a half-mile away on the same interstate. The driver, 46-year-old Gary Roberts, was injured by debris and glass but not struck by any bullets. His right eye was hit by shattered glass and he needed several stitches in his fingers, said Bedford Wilhite, who works with Roberts at Dugan Truck Line.

While he was being shot at, Roberts radioed his employer to tell them what was happening. Jesse Medford, a Dugan terminal manager, told KTVT that Roberts said he thought he had been shot.

Roberts is home recuperating after being treated at a hospital, Wilhite said. Roberts, who has worked for Dugan for about a year, told Wilhite he is "much blessed and thankful to be alive."

Yes, it was a former officer hell-bent on destruction, but there's no evidence supporting that he was gearing to take out a certain group. He shot Jorge first, but ended his small rampage with a 2 semi-trailers.

I have a deep respect for law enforcement everywhere, although I know there are plenty that are biased. And considering all the illegal activities some enthusiasts take part in (that's publicized by the media and the internet), it's not hard to see why they feel we're up to something. It sucks, but as many other stereotypes, it's something we have to expect.

My initial thought of the question actually led me to think he was wondering what was going to happen to Jorge's project, not so much for the whole parts aspect, rather just because it has no owner (if that makes any sense).

But I could be wrong.
