View Full Version : Dash/tail lights fuse keeps blowing

wsup guys i really need my car at night my problem is one night i would be driving then all of a sudden the dash lights go out and i dont know whats wrong with it. when i pushed on the breaks thats when it happend. the fuse doesnt blow when i turn on the head lights/interior lights any ideas?

i think you isolated your own problem. fuse blows only when you hit the breaks correct well i would look at the break light wire diagram startin from the brake switch=the swith behind your break pedal trace it til you get to the back im for sure you find your short. i say its isolated cause when your headlights turn on you break light dosent break lights only turn on when you step on the pedal...so take a look its gonna be a pain but you got to do what you got to do

Check the bulb sockets. I have seen them be bad and cause the lights and fuses blow because of them.

The brake circuit is a completely different circuit than the parking/dash lights, so you have another problem somewhere. Depressing the brakes sends power through the brake switch to the lights, nowhere else. So first, remove the brake light bulbs and try it again, if the fuse does not blow you've got either a short in the lamp assemblies, incorrect bulbs, or a shorted bulb. If it does blow there's more to it than that.

ok well heres the story i already tried cleaning the bulb sockets still didnt work the thing is when im crusing at about 35 everything is perfect when i increase speed maybe to 60 or so thats when my dash/tail lights goes out.
