everyone has been asking about rims and i always hear the same thing about they crack there weak they are this or that.. which i assume is actually true.. but what ARE some quality rims that might possibly be affordable for the normal person, i always here volk, advan, and so on... is there anything a little more budget that is even worth buying? or is it a case of you get what you pay for? I was thinking of maybe the enkei cdr9(heard much about enkei?)

someone is going to disagree with this, but...konig are some good budget safe rims. it sounds like you're coming from the same way i was. i was wanting some nice rims that i could afford and perform well. my bracket was for like $1000-$1200 with a good name brand tire. going with the more expensive rims will run$1,500 and up. i'm actually glad i bought my konigs. they've got some new models that look pretty good. check some out.

If I only had $1000 to spend on wheels and tires, I'd go Kosei. Just like tnord above but not in gunmetal since they aren't readily available anymore in the US. You could also get some decent rubber with those wheels and put you right at $1000. Of course this is if you want a practical 16 inch wheel.

patience jackass, patience.

i got a great seat (full set) of wheels for 500 bucks and they rock.

edit: no wait. i paid 200 for one pair. 150 for another, borrow another set, sold a set (full) i paid 200 for, sold another set i bought for 200, sold a set w/ the car for 200, my friend got wheels for 600 for one set and tad more for another. hm. just gotta know what to look for and where.

you can still get volk racing or advan -- just buy used. Make sure you take a good look at them first though, to inspect for cracks or otherwise damaged (to the point that its structural integrity may suffer).

You can easily pick up a set of used volk racings (15 or 16) with new tires for $800... you just have to be patient when wheel shopping.

Does anyone know how well those alluminum OZ's hold up? The one that is on top of an egg in adds?

For those of us that don't live in Cali that really isn't an option. Unless you have a hook up that can inspect the rim for you. Being on the east coast the availability of nice used JDM rims isn't a feasable possibility
